What does it take, MOD wise, to get flames shooting out of the EVO? Im watching some of these BEST MOTORING vids and im wondering what it takes for EVO to do that?

Run catless and you should see flames .. or be catless and run a rich AFR ... That'll definatley sprout out some natural flames ... Having a BOV also helps while running catless I believe ...

I think that most of the flames that you see in the performance vids are done under deceleration. The AF ratio is rich so there is unburned fuel in the hot exhaust burning when it gets oxygen to react with.

Flames out the exhaust is excess gas combusting due to the heat of the exhaust piping itself. Sometimes cars will put a spark plug in the back of the exhaust to get it going too... Then, just run rich and there will be excess gas there.

If you have cats, the gas will never get to the back of the exhaust though.

They answered it well up there for the gases and the cat..

As for cops - pray they dont look under your car and know what they are looking at. Its a federal offense to play with a cat so thats upwards of a $2,000.00 fine ...

Please consider that your tail pipe is not designed to be a combustion chamber, the tail pipes proximity to your fuel tank and that what you are asking about doing is illegal. If you really want flames there are kits you can get other wise the suggestions here are workable. BTW 2Fast 2Furious was a movie.

yeah, unless you have to do emissions, i wouldn't worry about not having cats. cops sure aren't gonna do **** about it....you think they are gonna crawl under your car?

and everyone hit it on the head about the flames....basically a nice backfire with no cats=flames. or you can do the spark plug in your exhaust thing....that seems easy although ive never seen it done, nor would i want to do it.

I was running VTA on my BOV so that I can shoot flames. I got 14.3 MPG. When I put the BOV to recirculate I got 18.6 MPG.
