My coated autochrome header just cracked where the tubes collect before the turbo. Actually blew out a 1/8th inch hole. I just sent SSautochrome an e-mail asking if they would repair it. I am waiting to see how it is handled, and I will let you know. If they refuse to fix it then I will probably just have it welded up here locally.

Interesting... had you just moved/removed the bolts in that end? I forget, how long, how many miles did you have on it?

Nope, it has not been touched in months. It has been on the car just under a year and about 8,000 miles as the engine was out being built during the year. It really has not had much use....

Well, here is their answer...

The warranty was only 90 days unfortunetly. Plus when you modify something it voids the warranty.
Im sorry!

So even if I were in warranty haveing the header coated would kill my warranty.

I guess that I am going to see if I can have it welded up, I think that the header is worth having because I can FEEL a seat of the pants difference without it. And it takes a difference to be able to feel it. This is a back to back taking the header off and installing the stock manifold difference.

I'm not surprised... they are real snakes. I made the mistake of helping them with early production evo parts... now they ignore my emails. Got to love the gratitude!

On an additional note I checked the ssautochrome website and they listed it at $250. $140 off - hmmmmmmm. See below about half way down the Mitsu page

what is the deal with this? why is it that they sell it for more than half off on ebay?

I dealt with ssac I still use their tbe no complaints. The header kept blowing gaskets although I didn't use the oem ever. o2 housing bought and sold right away. Then tried the ic and lost power. Perfect knock off of AMS. I showed AMS in person and then 3 new threads started here.

I was talking to one of the vendors and they were telling me that the DNP, MR, and SS autochrome manifolds were a waste of money. I have the DNP manifold now, not yet installed, and it looks like a solid piece. I was a little intimitated when he said they all eventually crack, but reading this thread has sort of changed my mind. I will be going with a Performance Coating in a couple weeks, and I'll post before and after pics.
