Sorry. I meant to specify How does the HKS ssqv sound with aftermarket intake RECIRCULATED?? Is it a whoosh or a whistle?? I want to compare it with the GReddy Type S recirc with intake, which makes a whistle at low boost, and whoosh+whistle at higher boost.

To try and type those sounds..

LOL.. Thanks for the detailed info, I was sitting here for 15 min. making bov sounds to see which sound I want.. lol jks, but anyways, Im looking forward either to buying the Greddy type-S or the HKS ver. 2.. Right now, the Greddy type-S is the major choice of many ppl simply because of the easy to do one spring mod (which makes ie an excellent choice for the Evo). But most of us just can't turn away from the head-turning blow-off of an HKS super-sequential.. well Ryan since u already have an HKS, maybe u can fill me in on how its reacting (stumbling, bogging, ruff idle, leaks, compressor-surge) anything of that nature? Because I just want to get more informed before I get it.. I can easily buy the Type-S and done.. but I wont be as happy as getting the HKS.. and I dont want to get the HKS and uncover problems and be sorry. Which one would u suggest?.. If u can help me out, I'd appreciate it very much.. Right now I can get the HKS ver. 2 kit for about $350.. lemme know if its actually worth getting.. Thank You!

I have compressor surge, but I adjusted the stumbling/bogging out with the set screw. I know everyone says don't touch it. I read the HKS letter saying not to touch it. But if you don't your car WILL run like crap. You pretty much have to have the EIDS to idle as well. I sit and watch my SAFC show 2-3% added throttle pretty much constantly while sitting still. I wish the SAFC decel compensation worked on Karmen but it doesn't so wired the EIDS in with it. I've always been partial to HKS, I like the look/fit finish. I'm a little disappointed that this doesn't work as great as I thought. I also bought the recirc kit (which doesn't work out of the box if your using the version 2 kit) You have to buy a much longer hose to meet up with the intake (2 ft). I still had the compressor surge so I don't feel that the BOV was causing it. I didn't like the long *** recirc hose so I went back to VTA. I am going to build an airbox to go over the end of the HKS racing suction and then NACA duct air from the tray to try and get rid of surge. The BOV itself does not flutter anymore. Again, had to touch the set screw.

Also, if its too tight, when you lift the gas you'll think you hit the brakes--which sucks.

From what I understand the Greddy Type R is the BOV to get but next to impossible to find. I read a lot of good posts about the Type S with the correct springs working out very well VTA as well.

The SSQV does look sweet, but I haven't decided if the bling was worth it yet.
