AVC-R controller problems
AVC-R controller problems
I installed my avc-r a couple of days ago. I used the base settings that most people seemed to have used here, 1.4 kg/cm, 65% duty, and then the gear stuff that i dont remember off the top of my head. My problem is no matter what it's set at, and how fast I'm going, it will boost to 11 psi, spike to around 16 or 17, and just bounce between 11 and 17 5 or 6 times, and then hold 11 psi. I checked for vaccumm leaks, and didnt find any. The other thing i noticed tonight is that my rpms read around 800-900 on the AVC-R even if I'm on the interstate at 3500 rpms. Any tips would be appriciated, because I have no idea whats wrong.
Definitely sounds like a wiring problem
Check your connections, especially your RPM and throttle splices since it sounds like that may be the issue with the behavior your describing. Also make sure you have your grounding in the correct order.
Additionally, don't make any of these connections with wire taps/vampire connectors, they add a lot of resistance to the splice which could be the problem as well. I soldered all of mine and works great. You can also melt the jacket at your splice point with a soldering iron and wrap the connector wire around the bare wire, then tape it firmly. I wouldn't use a whole roll though, you'll be tapping it again for other mods at some point
Also, verify that you've used the correct harness diagram. I'd think the AVC-R would not work at all but with the rpm issue your describing, it could be that you've tapped the wrong wire so its reading an incorrect voltage.
I would double check your wiring first, you can also use the AVCR sensor check but I'd start with the physical here and work my way up.

I found the problem. In a brainfart moment (they happen alot), i hooked the RPM wire up to the injector wire instead. Everything works fine now, just trying to find the perfect settings to make my car faster.
I know this thread is old but I recently just installed the avc-r and everything seems to work fine but my rpm speed is a little off. It's about 300 rpms off at idle. I also have an hks turbo timer that reads rpm and it reads correctly. Can anyone help me with this?

Sorry I've never work on anything turbo before I got this car. How do I test for boost leaks? My boost seems to work fine though but i'll double check everything just to be sure. Thanks.
