FWIW, just about every stock '03-04 EVO we've dyno'd (hundreds of them) puts down 195-205whp. All three '05s we've dyno'd (2 GSRs and 1 MR) put down 208-212whp.

The increase power makes sense with the bigger hot side, I would be dissappointed of if it was otherwise.

Now I'll like to see how 05/MR turbo compares to the TME 6.5.

Hi Mike, Boost was noticeably higher than it is on the 03-04 Evos. Peaked at nearly 21psi and held it until ~5000rpm. Then it tapered down to 15-16psi by redline. There were substantial boost oscillications which made the torque curve lumpy and added to a lot of run to run variation. There were also larger AFR swings between runs suggesting that MMC juiced up the coolant and airtemp fuel compensations. There was also noticeable knock retard activity which may or may not be due to the fuel that was in the car when it was delivered to us from Mitsubishi. I don't know what they filled it up with but I will re-dyno the car with good 'ol Unocal 76 when I get back from SEMA. Also, the MR we were given is a pre-production press car so who knows what other differences, if any, exist within the mysteries of the ECU code

Thanks Shiv, I think it's fair to say your assessment above is on a par with what we saw on the White MR this weekend. Perhaps they just plain don't like our tap water winter 91 octane.

Out here in California it's 91. You can buy higher octane but you have to go to a race track or special vendor. Most of the pumps here in the US have 93 octane as their "Premium". There is still even more to it than that as far as how different brands go about getting the "absolute octane" number. Shiv can probobly explain it allot clearer than a dolt like me.

Bottom line, you want to buy the gas with the higher MOTOR octane and in CA in means buying from 76.

Take care,
RonV

Wow, Stock STi's put down 215-220 on Shiv's low reading dyno. Pretty nice!
