poll: which clutch manufacturer do you recommend?
I was able to watch mine being done as I used to do service work for the dealer I bought my car from. Tech dropped the sub frame... the trans is heavy and has to be orientated just rignt to go into place as Dan mentioned. It is definately a job best done with the car on a lift. Some of the guys here have done thes changess under a car on jack stands, if you are not a skilled mechanic (professional or nearly so) you will struggle with this job. I have done four clutch changes, ground up restorations, rear clip replacements and other long involved projects so I have the skills for this job but am only too glad I didn't have to go for this one.
But we digress
My ACT HD is now fully run in and it works super. My wife even drove it and had to comment on the difference from stock.

I recently installed an ACT street setup in my car and highly recommend it. Drives and feels much better than stock. The install was a pain in the **** though. Luckily my father-in-law (a master mechanic) was here for Thanksgiving, so that made it much easier. And since I'm in the Air Force, I had access to a complete shop on base with a lift and tools. I couldn't imagine trying it without a lift. Mad props to anyone who did it without one!

wailed on mine yesterday and it holds super. Had my buddy with me (former cop) and he slipped it hard, when I drove I dumped it.. nooooo probs. It is well broken in and will do things the stock clutch could never come near doing. I have little doubt it could easily break the rest of the drive train because it locks up wham bam.
Thanks everyone for the confidence in our products! I hope we can keep earning a good reputation in the market. Seeing what is coming up in the next year or two in our R&D dept, I am excited about what the future holds for ACT and their customers. Happy Holidays!
Well hold on Dirk, what is in our future? I'm getting close to finally needing a clutch. I personally don't like the idea of using an OE disc. RRE offers the six rivet Exedy disc with your PP which is more in line with my needs. Is ACT stepping up to the plate with a disc with more heat handling capability? What can we look forward to, and when might it be available to the public.

As far as what we have in store in the future, I won't get specific because there is too much still up in the air, but we are making some great advancements. I don't know yet if or when this will affect what we offer for the EVO, but the coffee thing sounds interesting.
Dirk,
So is the disc your using now a the original OE 4 rivet design, or the 6 (little confused)? I'm pretty convinced that I will be saying away from any of the 4 rivet designs. Reports have been that the aftermarket Exedy disc's were holding up better... RRE's opinion carries a lot of weight in the DSM/Evo community. Do you think they are wrong in offering (and claiming better heat handling abilities) the after market 6 rivet Exedy disc as a recommended option? Or is this indeed the relined 6 rivet disc that you, in fact, offer as standard now?
