Looks can be deceiving. That's not an Exedy disc at all. That is an aftermarket disc. I don't care for the center design myself. It's a bit crude compared to the Exedy type IMO. You would have to talk to RRE to get their take on it. I agree that Mike the the guys down there know their stuff. Sorry for the delay but for some reason I haven't been getting notifications of updates. If you have any more questions, feel free to email so I don't pollute the thread.

Sorry for not getting back sooner. I've done about 5 launches at around 5K rpm. It almost hurts it grabs so well. All this was done after a 500 mile break-in period, just in case.

I don't want to bring down ACT name but when my WRX tranny breakdown I ended putting a ACT Stage 1 along with a 13lbs light weight flywheel.

When my SECOND tranny breakdown(all that within 50 miles apart) the shop that removed the tranny showed me a cracked throwout bearing.

What I don't understand is how in the hell having installed a brand new flywheel, clutch assembly throwout bearing and having driven only 50 miles nicely the throwout bearing was cracked beyond repair.

2 broken trannys+ faulty ACT clutch with 50 miles= I traded my Wrx for a 05 MR

so yes next time other than ACT

Sorry for the issues you had. We use the same bearing that everyone else uses. It is the stock Exedy design both in the case of the WRX and the EVO. I cannot say for sure what the problem was, but I can speculate that it probably has to do with installation. It is not like we re-designed the whole system or something. The WRX suffers from the same problems that the EVO clutch does from the factory. The pull type bearing arrangement has to be installed perfectly or you have problems. Can you email me some pics of the parts or are they long gone?

out of the choices here, Exedy followed closely by ATS. Also you didn't mention OS Giken which is very good...

of all the clutches i have had with all my previous cars, i'll hafta say ACT makes a damn good all around unit for less than the compitetion, and get the same quality without paying for the name. depending on if its main purpose will be street daily driven, and some times drag use, or if its gonna be a drag only car... make your dessision there. as for me, my last clutch in my 94 vtec prelude with 120 shot direct port NOS, i had a 6 puck unsprung disc and an extreme pressure plate. that thing WENT THRU HELL and asked for more! i doubt i could have ever fried that clutch... lol! the pedal feel was slightly stiffer than stock as well. i had a buddy who had a clutchmasters stage 3 setup in his integra and i could NTO drive it because i would kill the car or whatever. it wasnt very practicle for a DD school commuter... but ACT makes good stuff and have a good warrenty on thier stuff as well!

good luck on your choice!

My clutch is starting to slip. I'm almost strictly street. I may make a few rookie 1/4 mile runs, maybe do a few track things for thrills, but I want a LONG LASTING driveable clutch and only want to put it in once.

I have had an ACT 2600lb with the organic street disc recommended to me as well as an RPS 2900 lb

Of course the ACT is cheaper (by about $200), but the RPS riveting looks a bit beefier, plus a local shop is recommending it.

Not looking for anything but experienced and well informed replies.

I know we all have our personal favorites on things like this, but I'm trying to make the best decision for my needs.

Any help greatly appreciated

Ok, my question is which of ALL of them gives the best lifespan with the least amount of chance of damaging the TC...? I think mine is gonna go soon, and I'd rather not have to replace a TC later
