I'm thinking of buying a group of 10 or so 2nd Gen Megan Racing cat backs (with O2 sensor installed). However, the 2nd Gen will not be available until the end of the month.

I'm not sure where everyone is getting their information, but from the pictures I've seen of the Megan racing downpipes and cat-backs, they do not look anything like the Helix parts. Try searching for Megan exhaust pictures and compare it to Helix pictures. They're completely different.

The Helix should be a straight-forward install. I think the Megan racing should be also. I believe their earlier versions had the issues that should have been corrected now.

I have been it contact with Megan, and they are correcting the problems... they are trying to sell off the 1st Gen products first at reduced rates though... I expect there will be a lot of "group buys" on the old product.

question but, why if Megan has a low cost turboback exhaust for the EVO do they not become a vendor here and sell the exhaust themselves. Always get information on them second hand, food for thought I guess

Megan and Helix are DEFINATELY not the same. I've seen both in person.

Megan DP has a flex section and the Helix Doesn't. I have a Megan DP, but buddy has a Helix. Now I have a Helix Cat Back with a Megan DP and Perrin Test Pipe. I don't think the exhaust is terribly loud. I think my buddy with a Helix DP, Perrin TP and Perrin Cat-back is louder than my car. I think the flex section in my DP is muting the sound of my exhaust. I also have cams and he doesn't, so that could make a difference.

Hi,

Can you please tell me where you received this information from?

This is FAR from the truth, Megan racing is made in China, Helix components are NOT. I think anyone who compares the two product lines will see that Helix components are far superior in build quality.

There are a some replica Helix components on the market, and we (Helix Japan, Gruppe-S, SP Engineering) are in the process of litigating against these companies for mis-representing the Helix product.

Thanks,

Gary

...

Hi,

Let my clarify before I get myself into trouble here.

SOME of Megan Racing's products are made in China, I cannot give a blanket statement to all, but I have personally visited one of these factories just south of Shanghai while on a quest to chase down whoever was knocking off Helix products in China.

Please don't misrepresent Helix products!

Cheers,

Gary

Question So?

It was asked but not really answered. Is there any welding involved with the installation of the Helix cat-back?

There is no welding invoved with the installation of Helix cat-back. It is the true bolt-on system.
