Question Helix Catback Exhaust Reviews

I'm very interested in getting my hands on one of these. Just wanted to get a feel for what others who have this exhaust think about it? Pros? Cons? How is the sound and the fitment?

I had heard that this exhaust is pretty loud, something like 101 db at about 5300 rpms............is this accurate? Any info you could provide me to sway me in one direction or another would be appreciated.

i've had the helix catback since May of this year, and i love it. it is an aggresive looking and sounding exhaust. deep but not as loud as it seems. imo the sound is cool. i've listened to a variety of exhaust that were louder at a couple meets. you can feel the difference, and the dyno #'s were good. of coarse i didn't dyno stock before i installed the Helix, but i'm sure it was a 10-15hp gain from stock. max 240hp / 254tq.
in addition to the catback, i've added the Helix dp also. i still need to dyno with the dp.
i don't believe that the Helix by itself is 101db. at one of our meets it tested at 101db because it was running with a test pipe (cat-less). hope that helps.

only fitment issue is at the rear opening. kinda close to the inner bumper. you can adjust the hangers in the the rear to get it where you want it.

ok thanks, but is this a true 3" all the way back. you mentioned you had the catback and just got the DP. are you using the stock cat or do you have a hi-flow cat or cat delet pipe? do the DP and catback taper to meet the stock cat? Thanks for the info, in the market and looking for people who are happy with the performance of their exhausts whether they have tapered exhausts or true 3"

according to Gruppe-S, it is a true 3" to the cat. i'm running on the stock cat. no fitment issues to the cat. bolts right up for the dp and cb.

I've driven next to an EVO w/ a full 3" helix catless turbo back and I couldn't even hear my HKS exhaust over his. I'm running the stock cat though, so that helps quiet things down.

Anyone has any sound clips of the Helix Exhaust?
I am very interested in it but don't want a very loud exhaust.
Thanks

Thanks for the input fellas, keep it coming.

Run a search on the sound clips. I know the norcalevo.net website has a soundclip of it along with a bunch of other exhausts.

Anybody know where the best prices can be found on the catback helix? My research turned up $439.00 shipped from Gruppe-S.

Those soundclips don't do **** for you. They have different setups for the exhausts on the board, but some have stock cats while others don't. The Helix is a TRUE 3" exhaust system with NO restrictions. The HKS is quieter due to the 20" resonator inline on the midpipe rear section of the system. My friend has the HKS and i have the Helix. I like them both.

yea test pipe would be loud, but Space Monkey, if you run the helix with a high-flow cat, it will be quieter... I wouldn't spend a lot of time listening to sound clips though, because it sounds a lot different in person than on digital form... TRUST Me
