NEED HELP Cam install, won't stay running
Added hks 264/264 and now when trying to start, it won't idle and will only rev if we continue to blip the throttle. All timing marks are lined up, CAS is in the correct position, wires and coils are seated properly, seems like it is getting fuel.
It seems like the coils are not firing at the right time and lighting off the mixture.
Please help!!

We set the TDC from the indicators on the cam gears.
Well during startup, it sounds like it may work properly, then when it goes back down to idle, it goes to a very low rpm idle causing vibration. You have to pump the gas to keep the car running. Exhaust has a strong unburned gas smell. It insists on dying and we aren't going to try to force it to run. We are going back to check timing, but any thoughts would be appreciated!

Stock BOV. Would that cause it not to want to stay running when giving it gas? We didn't change any bov lines.

Usually, when your car runs like crap, it usually has something to do with timing. You might be ok with the camshafts, but you could have made a mistake throwing the cam gears back on. What kind of cam gears are you using, are they stock or aftermarket?
Try to get a timing gun and go from there. I experienced some idle problems after throwing in my 272's, but my computer did a lot of learning after a good week of driving. Also, are you running some kind of tunning device such as Xede or EMS.

This isn't like an idle issue with big cams, this is more like the spark plugs are not igniting the fuel. Stock cam gears, No xede or ems, getting tuned tomorrow by DynoFlash.
What your describing would and could be something related to timing. There are three timing marks on the Evo that need to be set @ TDC. If you don't have a timing gun, I would start by checking those out. Set your cam gears @ TDC and try to see if you are on time with the other two, however, they are hard to find and see. An Evo manual would probably be very benificial...

We removed #1 plug and checked TDC vs. cam gears vs. crank pulley and all agree that the timing is set correctly. We have the manual on the computer also.
ok, just thinking out loud here ..... if when the revs are up (timing is advanced if i remember correctly) and almost seems to run, and then it stumbles back down closer to idle. Does that mean timing may be pulled back quite a bit at idle even though indicators say its not?
