Tranny uprgrades for modded evo VIII?!?!?
I bought my first evo about 2 months ago. Before this car I owned a 95 supra with close to a thousand HP. I am basically a power freak. So of course I can not leave this car anywhere close to stock. In my possession I have a complete HKS GT2835 turbo upgrade kit, intercooler, HKS 272 cams, HKS cam gears, fuel pump, injectors, a carbon TI exhaust, full downpipe, ATS clutch, and an AEM EMS. (For everyone saying "Yeah Right" I just recently was on the winning side of a lawsuit.) I have not installed anything as of yet because I am looking for any good transmisson uprgades that can hold up to this power. I am looking for about 400-450 HP when all is finished. I just dont want to leave anything untouched. I do not want to spend all the money to get it installed to just bust my tranny soon after. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know...I am looking for something that can hold up to some pretty substantial launches.... PLEASE HELP?!?!?

But to be perfectly honest with you, I think you need to worry about your transfer case long before your tranny. The transmissions in the Evo are well built... the TC on the other hand
Teamrip also does TC work and they're currently prototyping some stronger spider gears for the front differential. This is typically what breaks on these cars, and currently the only way to fix it is to replace the front carrier with a Quaife or Ralliart LSD since those LSDs replace the factory spider assembly. A Ralliard LSD is $1500 though from Z1auto and a Quaife is about $1250 so they're not cheap options. TeamRIP doesn't have a price on the upgraded spider gears yet, but I'll know in a week or so since I'm having a set installed in my TC.

I believe the GT2835 can actually make better than 450 HP... on the HKS site their car made 340 HP to the wheels with only 18 PSI of boost and a catalytic converter. Well I guess not only... 18 PSI is a lot in normal standards... but that car had less mods than mine will. Also I am still looking at getting a set of pistons, and other internals like valve springs, retainers, etc. Also I am looking at an alternative to nitrous called the N-tercooler... NX systems makes it and it attaches to your intercooler and uses C02 to supercool the air entering your engine. Applications have shown immediate gains of 30-40 HP and it is absolutely safe. So I figure even without that I am lookin to run between 21 and 23 PSI which should be enough with my mods to make 450 at least.

If you scroll down, you can compare with a popular, less expensive EVO turbo (GT3037) that has been shown to top out around 450whp because it flows ~670cfm @ 22 psi.
Now, with race fuel and/or other adders you can get 450whp, but I'm talking full-time power on pump fuel.
Just FYI.
There has been a good amount of threads regarding the use of the NX N-tercooler. Most of the tuners do not recommend it. IT basically is used to cool the intercooler, but the side effect is that the NO2 or CO2 will get into the intake tract of your engine. Possibly a better option is Buscher Racings's or WORKS new Water / Alchy injection kits.
Just a thought.
