I posted a similar quiery previously. In our Aus Spec cars it tend to start from around 4500rpm.

I got onto MMA (Mitsu Motors Aust) and this is what they said:

"I have checked out our database and found that from EVO8MR we have revised
the program to reduce shift / deceleration shock to improved the total driveability.
Therefore, subject condition is correct and worked well in accordance with
our ECU program."

According to them it is tuned into the car. Still I am not happy with it. Have driven the car for 4500kms.

It was worse ealier on, but as the car loosened up it became better. That siad it is still there.

My big concern is clucth wear, as changing down gear from high revs is going to hurt the thing.

Hello.

So far by testing some aspects it really looks like the engine gets to much fuel above 5000rpm and the raise is air/fuel beeing burned up.

either that or some ecu programmer had a bad day..

its not related to cluth or the trottle spring as i have noticed..

ill shed more light on the subject as we test things out..

/Anders

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ATTENTION POSSIBLE FIX !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is an update from my post from before. Vtech8tr unplugged the sensor behind the clutch pedal. This sensor ,senses, when the clutch is depressed. It's a safety feature. For instance without the sensor being plugged in, the vehicle will start without pressing in the clutch! Be Careful!!!!!

The good news is that I have not had this RPM rise since unpluging the sensor. It's been about 2 1/2 weeks!!!!!! I am not saying that the problem is solved, but we think it does have something to do with this sensor. This sensor is in a very vulnerable area and can easliy get damaged. The bracket mine was attatched to was bent... Being so easliy damaged this could explain why even the new Evo's are having this problem. maybe some of these sensors are faulty from the factory. I will continue to report on this issue, and for now I have not replaced or reattatched the sensor.

Maybe my buddy vtech8tr can chime in on the exact location of this sensor.

Its on the clutch pedal. Jsut get a mag lite and crawl under their and unplug it and drive around to see if you still have the same problem.

You already took it off and drove it and still go the RPM raise? You might have another problem since your car should not start without depressing the clutch!!!!!!!!

I agree. Our Aus spec cars do not need to have the clutch depressed to start either. MMM, maybe a new thought process here
