Question for those w/ Boost control

I am going to get a Blitz boost controler and I was wondering what is the max boost you guys run on all stock components? Also do any of you turn your boost way down when traveling on the freeway. My friend told me he turn his boost down to 8psi. and got like 400miles on the tank. Is this possible or is my friend just Bullsh$tting?

i think it's possible to get great gas mileage by turning down your boost. i haven't tried it yet, but that's what i plan to do when I'm doing my daily driving. max boost i think 20 on 91oct. someone said 21.5 but that's kinda high, i think.

I run 20.5 to 21 psi on 93 octane. As for turning down the boost and getting 400 miles to the tank I think is impossible. I just made a drive to Chicago two weeks about to get custom tuned and stayed out of boost as much as possible (never flooring it) and staying at about 80-85 mph and got 320 miles before I filled up and I still had a 1/8 of a tank left. No need to turn the boost down if you just stay out of it.

damn! good job in staying in control! I know I can never do that with this car.

does anyone know what's the lowest you can set the boost down to without messing up anything?

i run 21 psi with stock internals. SOmetimes it will spike to 22. I have a flash dyno tuned by Vishnu.

Also turning the boost down to 8 psi wont give you better gas milage by its self.
Just keep it at 21 PSI and dont floor it and its the same ****.
On the freeway I never usually hit boost unles im passing somebody

I have a blitz sbc-id and it says that it won't go lower than stock boost. On my 92 built turboed sentra with the boost controller turned off it will go to 5.5 with a boost creep of like 7 with a 100% gain. because of the stock b.o.v. and the wastegate. Now whatever is the stock setting is on our evo,rs,and mr are that is as low as you can go. Just ask someone who has one on there car already tell them to turn it off and that will tell you how low you can have your setting. I hope this helps. I am new to the Mitsubishi family but have some pretty good knowledge on cars. **** I have a 10 sec. sentra that I built all by myself.

You may be right, but why do I think you can't boost lower than the lowest factory setting?

I have my set at 68 on the SBC ID which gives me about 23peak and tapers to about 20 by redline. On 100 octane I'll turn it up to 72 or 74 to peak at about 24.5. It's all Vishnu tuned.

You can't run any less boost than the stock wastegate spring pressure is set for. I think its like 12psi. But you can certainly turn it down to that.

i think u can save more gas if you have low boost, but 400 is almost impossible i have never pass 280 per tank =( and averages around 220-250

I do lots of highway driving and stay out of boost 98% of the time (i should change my screen name, lol) and the best mileage I got was 320 and I was on vapors... put it like 13.1 gallons that time.

you are limited by the wastegate spring. I believe it's in that 10# area.

I'd like to mention to the people running stock everything cept for a mbc, you gotta be careful when turning up boost. More boost = need more fuel. It seems to be the consensus on this board that the stock fuel pump is fine, but I've yet to see hard data backing this up. So make sure you run a pyrometer or wideband to make sure you're ok.
