We have the 1G BOV's, flanges and an actual adapter kit for the EVO here instock. Something nicer that works really well is the Forged BOV kit, we have those too and they cost the same as the 1g valve and adapter.

It sounds like it's leaking from the gasket on the throttle body or somewhere close to there. It may have been the breather also. I got tire of it so I cap the upper pipe since my main concern was the lower pipe, intercooler and bov. THe problem with this is that there is no vacuum on the BOV tube. Did your car had to be in TDC?
