best setting for cam gears
cams
The idle settings for 264\272 will be different, if you want daily driven car go with the staggered setup of 264\272 with stock cam gears. If you wan to go with the 272/272 setup then better get AEM or other standalone unit. hope this helps.
There is nothing of substance that correlates HKS 272 cams with the need for a standalone, period. This just isn't true.
What is true however is the fact that without a decent reflash and mbc in the very least, one will not get his money's worth from a set of cams, and will only invite drivability problems.
As far as the orignal question, the 264/272 set can be installed with the split lobe centers as described above, although there may not be much of a need to do it given the shorter duration of the 264 cam.

I dont know why people think the full 272s isnt streetable. I've been running the set for nearly a year with perfect driveability. The cams are barely noticable at idle.. a slight twitch in the throttle - you;d get the same effect with a set of solid motor mounts.
BTW, on point - I run -1.5 and -1.5

I have the same setup and am running -1 in and -3 ex. It sounds good but and pulls pretty hard. For power I would think -3 and -3 would give you the best results due to overlap. I might be wrong.
