Good question. I assume that the answer is not to just drive around it.

David....sound GREAT ...but what can be done to rectify the compressor surge? Is this surging gonna be a problem?

Now that you have pretty much finalized the turbo, can we get an update on costs, i.e. entire turbo and upgrade from our stock core??

Good Job....

Check the turbochargers.com (i forgot the actual site) or search for the 21G thread (theres a link)
I believe the pricing is 1495 brand new and 895 with a core

an external gate should do it. IMHO the 20G is too large of a turbo to be internally gated.

Not that I disagree but I believe that Buschur uses internal gates on larger turbos than this one.

The hot side may be too small thus causing surge or they may rectify it using an anti surge housing. I dont know anything about this turbo but Im sure David will chime in on it.

I'm guessing this turbo will bolt to the manifold, 02 housing, and external wastegate setup you sell on your site?

I was thinking about this manifold and the external Tial wastegate, but I also want to upgrade to this turbo eventually.

Could any of you tell me what the advantages would be running Bucshur's manifold with the external on the stock turbo?

The wastegate has no bearing on the compressor surge.

There is only one thing you will be able to do, that is.....drive around it. With the RPM's over 3,000 rpm I don't recall it doing it. Trying to pull the car from 2,000 rpm in 4th gear is when it surged.

The GT30's and GT35's do the same thing, not that this will make any of you feel much better

I did run the car on the road already, as I said those were datalogs from the pulls.

Also, we are putting in an AWD Mustang Dyno. Should be around 7 weeks until it is here and in.

Pricing is like this:

Send in your stock EVO turbo and have it upgraded to the 21g wheel, rebalance. $840.

NO core you get the turbo for $1240. Be advised, for now the first few sold will be built using brand new standard '03 style turbos. When the new ones run out we will start building these from cores we have. They will be balanced and checked out before being sold.

NO core and get a 21g turbo built with the TME turbo, $1540. These turbos are on back order now so it is not a current option.

I will have these in stock and ready for exchange next week.

Dave, I have a question for you. I would like to send you a core, but unfortuanlty having my car down for a long period of time is really not an option for myself (I'm sure there are other people in this situation.) Anyway my question is would you be willing to send me the turbo if I send you the $1240 and then refund me the difference when I send you my stock one?

Things are getting more interesting by the minute... The low end surge hurts my soul (what's left of it) though, as I do alot of city driving in traffic under 3000rpm in 5th and 4th gear.

Do you recommend the 10.5t with this setup or sticking with the 03 housing like you are doing right now

I had the same type of surge on my GVR4 with a 20g and ported 8cm housing with tial BOV..At the time Tial only had one spring weight so I just thought it was the BOV was too stiff..Could this possibly be fixed by using a different BOV combination??
