Anybody here spraying nitrous in their EVOs?

I was just curious, cause some of my race buddies are on spray and can't stop raving about it. They're fast and I'm somewhat tempted to do it, but I'm too much of a *****.
I want to know what experiences you've had with it, any problems? Is it safe, or can it be used safely?

A friend of mine put a 50 shot on his WRX. I think he got 5 or 6 passes before he spun a bearing or something. I know, no great loss but the rebuild cost him over $6000. I figure its better to put the money towards a good build & tune. Either way you still end up paying.

Though the wrx is not as strong of a block, and can't handle the higher boost that the evo block can handle.

Better off spending the money on turbo only mods.. NOS is just very aggresive especially on a stock evo bottom end. I'm having short life on mine even though its a built motor and its only got a 50 hp wet shot on it..

Nitrous Oxide is just a safe way of spraying pure oxygen into the motor. If you think it is unsafe it is because of your tuning honestly. Nitrous is pretty much like a turbo, instead of compressing common air and using it to make power, you are using nitrous oxide (Nitrous to make it stable and safe... thats it). Its really like a turbo in many many ways. If you say it is hurting your motor the reason is the tuning or the extra power that you car isn't ready for... just like a larger turbo. Thats my idea on the stuff anyways.. safe if used properly. I have not used it but one of my good buddies has it and another one is thinking about using it (Mainly just to spool a larger turbo but he will still probably use it). I wouldn't worry about using it, I would worry about making sure it can be handled properly.

spraying into the intercooler is a lot safer, and also i believe its nx that makes it, where you have an intercooler spray and it gives you anywhere from 30 to 50 hp because of how much it cools down your car.

Everyone who has a failure on nitrous is so quick to blame the nitrous.

I have used it with GREAT results on dsm's for years. I recomend it to most customers who want to go fast with the least amount of $ spent.

It is completely safe so long as your have a competent fuel system, and do not excede the total power capacity of the engine your using. And you install, tune, and use the kit correctly.

The evo8 engine should be able to handle 500+ hp. The pistons, rods, headgasket do not care if the additional power and combustion pressure come from O2 crammed in with a turbo, or injected from a bottle. As long as that additional o2 comes with the right amount of fuel and timing and the octane is right...it's all good.

I got a good 1 second ET improvement and 10mph out of a single fogger NOS brand kit on a stock turbo 1g DSM. 12.4 on stock turbo/engine to 11.44. 109mph to 118mph.

oh yeah...don't waste your time and money on the co2 intercooler sprayer. If your going to go through he trouble to mount a bottle, run lines and fittings, hook up all the switches, you might as well gain 50hp vs 5.

^^ Actually people have said that the chiller intercooler kits have made gains of 50WHP or somthing like that, I think it's just because the nitrous is ingested through the intake but thats just what i've read.

The nitrous powered coolers for your IC are external (I believe... never bother to look much) and therefore could not get "injested" in the motor unless you are normally aspirated and your intercooler is really an air filter I dunno though, maybe people spray it into thier IC? Like what DSMotorsports said.... it is just another way to get compressed air into the motor, nothing more. If people blow thier motor while using it, it is because they didn't tune thier car for it... the must figure it tunes itself when they press the red button

I don't use it nor will I for a long time but that is only because I use my car to road race and Auto-X.. nitrous needs to be refilled too often and sooner or later would become more expensive than other parts that yield less power. For someone that drags thier car however, if they aren't trying to be a pro or meet a certain class.. it is a great way to gain 50 ponies.

Im going to get the co2 kit going back and forth between dri cryO2 and NX. I ran n20 on my 01 prelude before the evo and loved it. I do not agree with the ohh nitrous is soo cheap and stuff because its not. It is VERY addicting and its not constant. Yes the kit is CHEAP but you do have to get juice which for me with a 10lb bottle cost around 50 bucks a pop. It can be "safe" if you use it right with a proper tune. I want to go with something diffrent and CHEAP so i plan on going with co2 ive heard it does awsome and it sucks i guess i will have to see for myself! I doubt there are any vedors who sell this setup for a decent price if any1 even has it but if you do send me a pm im looking!
