VERY cold starting with a buschur mini battery!!
Just wanted to give some props to the Buschur mini-battery kit..
As some of you know, the northeast (Tri-state area) Has gotten some cold weather the past few days.. 9-15 degrees with sub-zero wind chills..
I wanted to let everyone know that the mini battery WILL crank the car and start it after its been sitting over night..
I know many people in colder climates were concerned about this, and frankly, so was I since I didn't go through last winter with this battery.
I can't tell you what would happen if the temps dropped below zero (Since it doesn't happen here often) or if the car sits for a few days.. But it initially cranked a little slow, then kicked the car over within a second... I'm definitely relieved.
Job well done Buschur Folks!

The mini battery sacrifices reserve capacity more so than cranking power in the cold.. So you guys with accessories that you leave powered when the car isn't running would be better off with a trunk mounted deep cycle battery.
hey malibu i was rading about some of the batcap batterys the 800 and some people were saying they were using that and still running a decent stereo i want the mini battery and i want a stereo but i dont want it to not work and i dont want to relocate the bat to the tunk
but i want the mini bat for a place for a catch can ..... any ideas worst case ill say no to the stereo..

I am a little nervous about my braille mini-battery. It is darn cold here (high of 5F today), and my car barely turned over after work today. I think the engine turned all of about 1.5 times over before it started though. It was just about the slowest 1.5 turns ever. I am thinking of throwing the stock one back in for the rest of the winter. Anyone want to sell me their battery tie down? I had to modify mine to work with the new battery, now it's too short for the stock battery.

Yeah, thats a good point..
In any case, I had no trouble with it cranking in cold weather, however i'm not sure I'd want to run any large stereo for any period of time off it.. I do power my laptop off the car for long durations and hadn't drained the battery.
An alarm is no trouble at all.. there's always some residual drain going on in these cars anyway so I don't think you'd have trouble unless the car sat for longer than 2 weeks. (3 weeks was the longest my car has sat without the alarm)

by decent stereo i was thinking something like a 10" or 2 10" not huge watts but running another one would solve the problem how would u go about powering the rear one so it charged like the front one?
That's pretty simple. You can just run the second battery in parallel. See the link below.

One thing is for certain, as Jack says, these batteries don't have too much reserve. I've runmine down more than once listening to my stereo while working on my car.

Malibu.. thanks for the heads up on the batt.. I realy want to get rid of the rediclous stock intake plumbing.
To those of you who are concened about this battm and an upgraded sound system. The drain on the batt isn't the issue it is the alternator's capacity to keep up with the current drain. If you are dimming your lights on bass notes you may well be modulating the signals going to your ECU.... not good. Try adding a large 1 or 2 Farad capacitor accross your systems power supply line where it ties into your acc. You may need to replace the diodes in your altenator with higher amperage ones. I had to do these mods on an "85" Vette and see no reason why they wouldn't work on the Evo.
