Question Cut catback pipe at taper? Need advise!

I recently purchased the HKS Hi-power catback which i wish i never did after finding out that it is not a true 3'' catback. Read some threads about how the pipe gets smaller towards the end to meet to the stock cat. Well, i am a power freak and if im loosing hp in that pipe taper, then im debating if i should cut the end and weld a 3'' inch pipe and flange. What i want to know, am i loosing a lot oh hp b/c of this? And how it will affect performance when i add a 3'' test pipe and downpipe? Need advise please!!! Also is the reasonator in the catback also restraining from more power?

ummm honestly i wouldnt take the time and effort to cut it and weld a new one unless ur gonna do it urself and can do an excelent job if it botherd me that much i would sell it and buy another.... i know my one friend has that dp and he has 8 less hp with the exact same mods as me without it .... but all the cars are different i would think the resignator does restrict even more but i dont know much thier i have the helix without it and its perfectly straight and i know its very good on the power side but keep in mind without the resignator u get LOUD

I had a muffler shop to weld in a 3" stainless pipe and flange in place of the tapered part for a full 3" on my cat-back.

Al advise me to do it for an extra 5-8 whp. Also I have a 3" H/F so I had to get rid of the taper for less restriction.

I got a 5Zigen Miracle and was disppointed for the same reason, that stupid taper! I have a new downpipe and am going to be getting a hi flow cat and when I do I will have the exhaust fixed to make it 3 inch all the way. For 5-8 hp it would be worth the $40-$60 it will cost imo.
