P0300 misfire and S-AFC

My mechanic says to do the ECU reflash for the P0300 misfire that my S-AFC needs to be off. I know how to turn the settings to zero. From what I understand you can't turn it off unless u disconnect it from the ECU. Do I need to put all the settings to zero or will the reflash be fine with the S-AFC "on" with the settings?

He is talking out his booty. Reflashing the ecu has nothing to do with a piggyback. You are simply changing the software stored inside the ecu. You should not have to zero out your afc either. I had my ecu dynoflashed with my afc on and it seemed to work just dandy.

Ya, I think u are right. He said if he does reflash it and if the S-AFC is on then he is not responsible if the car does not start. He also does not know much about aftermarket parts either. I don't have time to have the guy who installed my S-AFC to disengage it bc I'm moving out of state.

I guess thats what you get when u have the dealership mechanic install the clutch on his own time. Ever since then I have had problems with it.

If you are paranoid you could always just cut the wires and resolder them. I did that to see if my afc was causing my misfire issues, it's not hard to solder. I will say it will not cause you problems though.
