RVM intercooler pipes and Hallman MBC installed
I just finished putting the RVM intcooler hard pipes and Hallman MBC in my Evo today.
The pipes were pretty good quality (mandrel bends, smooth inside, nice exterior finish). Came with all the necessary hoses and clamps. This kit replaced all the pipes from the turbo to the throttle body. The hardest thing about installing the pipes was only the small pipe that attached to the turbo. That thing was a b--ch to put on. There's only a small amount of space to work in; I had to take off the bracket for the wastegate to make room. What also made it hard was that the bolts are so close to the welds that it made it hard to put on and tighten.
Since I had the intake off for the intercooler pipe install, putting in the Hallman MBC was very easy. I capped off the wastgate solenoid, underneath the intake filter. I also capped off the tube from the intercooler pipe connected to the turbo. Connected one end of the MBC to the wastegate and "T"d into the hose going to the BOV for the other end of the MBC.
With everything done I went to do some pulls and set the boost for the controller. I was frustrated at first because I thought something was wrong because I kept upping the boost but was stuck at about 10psi. Turns out I just had to keep on adjusting the boost knob a little more at a time. After several pulls I finally got it to stick at about 20psi. I'm impressed with this MBC so far. It holds boost where I set it at rock solid w/ no taper and this is with the stock BOV.
Driving back home I decided to punch it again on the freeway when....vvrrrooom...BOOM! I was like "holy sh-t" what the hell just happened. I pulled over to the side of the freeway at about 7pm. The engine was still running but I couldn't go over 3k rpms. Turns out one of the hoses from the intercooler blew off. That was the first time that ever happened to me so at first I was scared as sh-t. The lower intercooler pipe hose attaching from the pipe to the passenger side of the intercooler popped off. I'm hoping that I just didnt tighten it down enough the first time. I tightened that sucker good this time.
All in all, I'm very satisfied with both products. The only thing I don't like is that the upper intercooler pipe for the kit looks kinda crazy; it doesn't go straight from the front towards the throttle body, as seen in the pics below.

i have had these pipe for a few months now i like them. the reason they made the pipe like 1 to clear the battery and 2 so it's not such a big turn into the throttlebody. i have these with a 3071r atp kit and work good. for the price can't go wrong
