Like Claudius said, it's not the mileage that's important or damaging.

The Cusco Twin Plate is simply the best. That is what I am putting in my STi converstion next. It runs $1500 from Bozz Performance out here in Fremont.

Evo's are notorious for having cruddy cluthes. Sorry to hear that, but hey...you have a real EVO VII, and that is way beyond cool.

That clutch problem is probably one of those intentionally under-engineered parts from MMC. Designed to create revenue!

Good luck man...

Thumbs up

Well I finally bought a clutch -
Below is a list of US Distributors for Exedy Clutch. Under each Business is a brief description of my experience with each;

AAA Imports 800-227-1523
If you notice, it’s the same company as Rockland Standard Gear. So when you call AAA, you get Rockland. I called and you have to leave a message and someone will call you back. When they did, they did not show a listing for the EVO7 or in that case any Lancer?

Rockland Standard Gear 800-227-1523
Same as above

Clutches Unlimited 714-373-6155
Spoke to David. The most expensive place I called - $1590 was jobber price and list price was $2866.00 plus shipping. Don’t think I will be calling them back.

World Pac 510-742-8900
Called and they would not sell to me cause I didn’t have an account with them. So I had to call there dealer and they could not find it listed.

Fenwick 410-787-1723
Called and they cant get it!

Clutch Man 800-725-8824
Talked to Sherwood. Very helpful. Had 1 of the best prices $1425.00 including shipping.

Foreign Auto Tech 650-589-3100
Talked to Chase. The 2nd best price $1415.00 plus shipping.

Alcon 317-244-9694
Talked to Brain. They have a twin plate for $900. BUT, that does not include a flywheel.

Carolina Auto Supply 800-438-4070
Last place to call, talked to James $1153.00 plus shipping. Even though the best price, they never call you back. Waited, waited, waited, ended up calling them back after 2 days. Well $1250 shipped. Bought it!

Below are some of the places overseas that I have been trying to get prices from;

IRS Motorsports - Japan 011-03-3696-7960
They have it, dah - $1448.90 shipped.

Japan Parts 011-03-5382-7364
Talked to Gram. Waited 10 days on an email from them with price and availability. To date, I still have not received an email or call.

Co-ordSport
Don’t even ask. There twin plate was $17??. When they said that, I lost count.

I hope this helps everyone out there who has a EVO7 in the states.

I think there will be many low cost single and double plate alternatives once the Evo 8 arrives. The Evo 7 guys will also benefit by having the same transmission.

A few of popular makers of clutches, here japan

HKS JAPAN
www.hks-power.co.jp
CT9A Twin-plate w/ flywheel 165,000 yen = est. $1560

CUSCO JAPAN
www.cusco.co.jp
CT9A Twin-plate w/ flywheel 168,000 yen = est. $1600

RALLIART JAPAN
www.ralliart.co.jp
CT9A Twin-plate w/ flywheel 168,000 yen = est. $1600

None of these companies listed pricing for overseas shipping but simple e-mail should get you the answers, you are seeking.
And on side note... I have the Cusco on my car, no complaints except leg get really tired during stop and go traffic. All of these are good clutch systems but unless you plan on seriously boosting the power on your car....well, it's just overkill...PEACE

You can still get that price. Just ask for James. This does come with a flywheel. All twin plates from Exedy come with a flywheel.

HAHAHAHA, go to a dealer!! You must not read to well. Why do all Lancer people think this is a Lancer? Does the EVO 7 mean anything to them? This is a EVO 7, not a Lancer. The dealer will not have any parts for this car.
Plus I have already sent my stock clutch and flywheel to Dirk (pres of ACT) for him to look at. So I am way ahead of you.

I don't think there is much of a question about that. I think Gvr4v, myself and many others are planning on seriously boosting the power.

That's pretty cool. Seems like a guy with some business sense/awareness. I couldn't help but notice the blatant name drop, though [Dirk, pres of ACT ]

gvr4v,

thanks for taking the time to call all these guys and post your findings. I guess I coulda saved some dough by going with your guy. Oh well, I didn't spend THAT much more (from IRS Japan), so it's okay. As an FYI, I am not surprised Gram hasn't called u back
