Question for Alcohol injection vendors:

[FONT=Tahoma][B] Do you notice any cylinder washing, ie. thinning motor oil when using alcohol injection frequently? How long have you tested this new product before it hit the masses? Can you use straight alky or mix only? Any garrantee with the unit?

We are talking about a slight MIST of alcohol injection to cool the intake charge and resist detontaion - NOT running the car on methanol at 6 / 1 a/f ratio like on a alcohol dragster.

Although the water / alcohol injection concept is something that may be a new "evolution" for the general on line evo community, I can asssure you that its been in use for a long time on other turbo cars e.g. www.turbobuick.com for example where there are dozens of examples of turbo cars with alcohol injection with over 100,000 miles. In the small quantities and also relatively normal a/f ratio that our tuning and kit operates in, (in fact leaner than stock a/f ratio) there is no wash down and complete combustion. Old school turbo users like the designer of the kit I sell, David Buschur, have been doing turbo applications for decades and although the Evo may be a new car (to the US) , the principles involved are universal and well explored.

Injecting alcohol is good! Great results and much cheaper than a 12-pack!! Just kidding!

Really, this sounds like a great idea, and once I get all my suspension mods done for Auto-X this season I will surely be looking into it.

Alcohol injection is a old concept quite true. It was developed during the second world war to assist the axis airplanes to reach maximum surface ceiling at a faster rate than the allies for obvious reasons. If you tune a car to run alky injection at 25 lbs of boost, and forget to top off the alky canister. What failsafes are inplace to monitor detonation while the boost, and pcm is set @ higher levels? Do you have to turn down the boost everytime the reservoir is low? or?

Hell, I've been running 60% methanol 40% distilled water injection on my Evo for a year now with no problems except a little more horsepower.

Don't know about running Alky from Home Depot, though.
