Intakes

sorry if this is a repost... i looked allover for a post on intakes and couldnt find one...

anyways! i am looking for performance parts, and obviously thought of an air intake 1st. but am torn as to what one to get.. HKS, injen, ralliart, K&N? i dunno.
what gains can i expect? who has a proven unit that will have a noticable difference (if any...)

currently i have an HKS drop in unit... got it for $22 and i guess its ok for an uber cheap upgrade...

but im distraught on what one to get.. any help would be welcomed

the injen is kinda pricey, but I was very pleased with the fitment and function of this kit. I have it installed with the Greddy Type-S. Very nice.

I have K&N and it is very loud also. I've heard different opinions on this one but I don't have any problems. I could not really notice a power difference but it sounds nice. If I had to do it over again I'd probably get the HKS RS because it seems to be easier to tune the car with this intake. I heard that Al at Dynoflash say it was a lot tougher to get a good tune with the K&N. If money isn't a problem, I'd go with the HKS.

I'd go with injen... it's super high quality, noticeable gains (even w/o a flash), could hear the stock bov clear as day, could hear the Turbo as loud as one on a Freightliner, and the finish, especially the black is gorgeous... plus, you don't have to worry about matching up an intake and upper i/c pipes so they fit together nicely since they both come as part of a kit...

You will not see a difference between the drop in and an open air.

The HKS is garbage IMO. Mainly cuz the point of a filter is to clean the ait coming into your engine and HKS does this the worst. I'd go with either K&N or the Apex'i intake. Those 2 flow the best and are the best at filtering impurities out of the air.

By the way if ya dont believe me: http://mkiv.com/techarticles/filters_test/2/index.html
