Tranny gear oil / Bushings
Tranny gear oil / Bushings
I know there are alot of posts out there about this, but once again I must ask. Which gear oils are you guys using? The main thing I want to know is if you guys are putting the factory recommended gl-4 rating synthetics in or are you guys just buying from lets say lancershop.com and getting a gl-5 rated synthetic. I want to get BG Synchroshift II but I dont know where to find the GL-4 rated gear oil. Have any of you personally asked for the GL-4? Also has anyone bought the metal bushing kit from lancershop that goes in your gear box and on the cables and did u notice a huge difference? Sorry for repeat questions.

All your part numbers and where to order are there.TC / rear dif gets
diaqueen lsd gear oil gl4Tranny if you want BG, use I not II.
That's the gist of what I've seen in threads. Call Jon at Team Rip if you are unsure.
Make sure that you have the Diaqueen LSD Gear Oil in the transfer case and rearend.
The part #3775610, this is a GL5 90 weight gear oil. If you want to avoid the transfer case problems use on this oil.

Ive been looking into this as well for some time...
From what I understand the TC and diffs take a GL-5 fluid as posted above by gears. The tranny takes a GL-4 fluid. Redline makes a GL-4 fluid: MT-90 I think. Also, there are a lot of people running Penzoil (GM) Synchromesh, which isnt API GL rated (it has friction modifiers in it), with good results. The only drawback to using this fluid is that since it is not GL-4, which is what is called out in the manual, if the dealership finds out, they will void warranty on this trans. From what Ive heard through opinions on this board, is that stock trans fluid is fair, redline is slightly better, BG better still, and synchromesh is the best in terms of smooth shifting.
I have heard to only use stock fluids in the TC and diffs.
good luck...
