tranny oil please look

hey i am going to put new oil in my tranny, and i saw reading that GL 5 is a no no, ok thats good. i got royal purple max gear and on the side it says good for GL 4 and GL5 does not say if it is GL 4 or GL5. i know some people who have use this same stuff, just wanna see if others have. i hate to have and wait to get red line or bg synco.

only reason why i wanna know is why they dont have it say gl4 or gl5. damn them

thanks

Don' t use that stuff, GL4/GL5 compatible is probably not GL4 compatible. I have a copy of the Mitsubishi service bulliten, they say to use the Mitsubishi Diamond Gear Lube 75w85. I have driven the car very hard and my stuff still works. It also says you can use any GL5 75w-90 or Hypoid gear oil in the transfer case and rear diff. Go to Pep Boys and for $7 a bottle (get two)get the Mobil 1 synthetic gear lube 75w-90.

I would stick with the Mitsu fluid. While it is a bit more expensive it is what was design for the tc and rear diff. Since so many people are breaking tcs' I don't think I would guess at off the shelf fluid when you have no rear data to it's suitability for the tc.

I also am using Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil in the TC, GM's syncromesh in the tranny. Shifts great and no problems.

I wanted to use OEM fluids but my local dealers (all 3), said they do not sell OEM fluids and only stock 5 gallon containers for the service dept. Total B.S. to get you to pay their high service rates.

I'm using redline mt90 for the tranny and 75w90 in the t-case and the rear diff for about 10k miles with no problems. mt 90 really helped shifting too.
