it has oil because there's excessive blow-by in the engine, since can't vent this stuff to atmosphere the excessive vapors have to go somehere (back into the intake) so yes it is normal

You can try and clean it if you like but it will be a big job and the oil will just return. Invest in an oil catch can first.

I agree with UFO. This is pretty much normal for turbo cars. Get your self a oil catch can and your car will love you for it.

IMO the catch can is not very effective because it sits in the engine bay where obviously it's very hot, so you have hot vapor hitting a hot can it's not gonna condense very well... you'll still find oil in the intake maybe not as much

I Have The Same Thing Turbotrix Told Me The Turbo Is On It Way Out, Does Your Car Smoke A Lot When U Floor It? They Told Me The Turbo Didn't Look Bad But There Was A Lot Of Oil In My Turbo Inlet Pipe.

A breather filter will allow the blow by gasses to escape and keep the oil in the head. I have been using a breather for 5K miles with no oil blowing all over the engine. And yes I drive the car very hard between tough street driving, multiple track days and several drag races.

For some people , the harder you have your bov ,, the more and more it doesnt want to open. So when your cruising on the highway and you just stab the car in 5th gear and let off ,, you hear a noise, not a bov noise. That is compressor surge, your turbo is acting as the bov,, The air has nowhere to go since the bov didnt open. Not good for the turbo ,, and over time you will get oil in the intake ..

Can you see the surging by a boost gauge? My buddies reaches 20psi and go up and down a couple of psi really fast.

Oh..congrats to TT on the f&q records! Seems like overkill to have them answer these minor questions lol
