oil sensor problem

I was going to change my oil today but my stepdad decided that he didn't want oil all over the driveway..so he told me to go to valvoline.. i went there and about halfway through they stopped and came up and told me that they wouldn't be able to change my oil because there was a sensor or something down there that was expensive and that they didn't wanna break because they didn't have the tools to take it off before draining the oil.. i was just wondering what the sensor was and where i would be able to take my car to have the oil changed....i was thinking the dealer.. but i know they're gonna charge me out the a** ..so does anyone think goodyear or somewhere like that could do it???

Is your car stock? Do you have the MR gauges? (boost, oil temp, voltage)

Assuming you have the stock guages setup, maybe its the oil temp sensor? Its basically a bolt that replaces the stock oil plug but has a temp sensor in it.

Dealer charges ~70 dollars for an oil change.
