Helix DP touching oil pan?

Installed my Helix o2 housing and DP today, but i noticed that my DP touches my oil pan. I don't hear any rattling, but i am concerned that my oil will start to get excessively hot. Does anyone else have this problem.

The main concerns i had was hoping that the DP would clear the stock lower tie bars, and i seems to have done that but it gets so close to oil pan that i cannot even slide a piece of paper between the oil pan and the DP. Figures!

Seems I may have the same problem. It does cause rattling. Test by putting it into 5th gear at low speed. The vibration then can be heard.

Loosen the entire system and retighten from front to rear after adjusting it to clear the oil pan.

I have the helix DP, it doesnt hit my oil pan, but sometimes it hits the subframe. I heat wrapped mine because of the location of the oil pan being so close to the downpipe. I'd recommend heat wrapping as well, its truly amazing, i can wrap my hand around the dp and hold it there a few minutes after a shut off the car. I'd also recommend re-adjusting the downpipe fitment, because if i'm not mistaken it fits to the o2 housing with that donut gasket, and does have some adjustability in terms of angle. If the helix o2 housing fits with a flush flange, then i don't know. You may still have to live with the occasional knocking against your subframe, but at least if it's wrapped you won't have to worry about your oil.
good luck!

and yes, basically what he said.

Hey guys,

As what jfh and Vroompsh have stated, the donut gasket does have some adjustability of angle. I have this downpipe on my own evo and have not come across any hitting oil pan issues. However, I do get occasional rattle against the subframe due to the tranny vibration which is common on most AWD system. I have since replaced the stock downpipe hangers w/ Kartboy units, and its been very sturdy without much noise to concern. If you guys haven't got a set of these kartboy hangers, please let me know. These bushings are included if you purchased the downpipe directly from us. If not, kartboy bushings can be purchase from us for $10 a piece.

Thank you

Cal

ps. JFH & Vroompsh, thanks!

i could be mistaken and it could have been touching the subframe instead of the oil pan. I dont seem to hear any rattling though. I do intend to heat wrap the DP, but i just got so excited when it came that i had to put it on. I will try to readjust the little donut ring on the o2 housing to see if i can get the DP further away from the subframe.

thanks

i heat wrapped mine just for the sake of security altho mine didn't even come close to hitting it. I do occassionally get some rattle but thats just the way it is w/ every 3" downpipe I tried whether its buschur, works, or Helix. I stayed w/ Helix cuz its the last one I bought. All worked the same.

I wrapped mine as well, and so far, no indication of any rattle.

put a clamp on it........................but the vibration is gona be on the steering wheels.
i change that with espelir downpipe is better for performance, cheaper, kind smaller a bit.
but the power is better.............you can feel it on the lower rpm.

Get a high temp header wrap and kartboy exhaust hangers. Hope this helps.

The Kartboy hangers snugged my Helix version 2 up too close to the oil pan, chewed straight through my heat wrap too. Noticed all this the last time I had the car apart. Keep in mind though that if something can go wrong, it will happen to me...
