Does your new cam set-up feel the same as the 264's below 6k?

I currently have 264's & I am on the fence whether or not to go with the 272 int??

I am not sure the reward is worth the hassle for obtaining a 272 int cam......

Still have yet to see a dyno chart 264/264 vs 272I/264E compare anywhere......

Im totally in the same boat, cant decide. I what to see 272-272 vs 264-272. To bad a shop wont run some numbers. I wan the most power but no stalling issues. And i dont want to have to get cam gear.

EVOTEXAS,

What kind of numbers did you put down today? I am just assuming you got your tune up in Dallas done.

I think he put down mid 350's on pump gas...his car in an animal for what's done to it. I had the GSC 264/264's installed and gained 46.9WHP and 32.6TQ...these cams are awesome.

Thanks for the answer. I just did the same set-up and was really curious. Regretfully, I had to do the mail since I could not make the trip up.

tke 413,
I just got a set of gsc's 264s(not in yet), everything else being equal you got 46.9 hp out of the cams themselves?

The ONLY other things I've added since the last dyno were the Greddy turbo timer,oil-catch can and a mini battery. None one of those do a thing for performance, and the car was already flashed. Joey installed the cams, and then Mark flashed it again the tuned it...going from 296.9 to 342.8. It was at 345 before he turned the boost down a little.

The power (HP) starts to drop way before 6000 rpms! That is terrible for after market cams. Cams like that should pull strong to the top. Who cares if it is got 400 hp. The power is droping and that is an indication there is something wrong with the set up! Is it the Cams or the Tuning?
Why would you like Cams that can't make power above 6K? Am I the only one that sees this?

The power is falling off like that because the turbo can't hold the boost in the higher rpms. The stock turbo will peak between 26-28psi in the midrange and then quickly fall off to 21-22psi in the higher rpm range. This is why the midrange is so strong. With a bigger turbo that will hold the boost you would see the power continue to climb.

Yes from what I understand I put down mid 350s with these cams and that was with 3-4 gallons of 89 octane mixed in with a full tank of 93 (sorry Mark) for a safe tune. I guess that means there is more there. Hehe. So I am super happy with the GSC 72/64 setup. Amazing cams, amazing vendor. I will post the graph as soon as I get it. I was in San Antonio this weekend and joeycoates took my car up to the dyno shop. Thanks Joey!! And thanks Mark, too!!

GSC =
