Question Plug-n-Play O2 sim ???

I've seen different O2 sims and tricks to avoid the SES light. What I was wondering is why hasn't someone come up with a Plug-n-Play unit?

The O2 sensor connects to a plug that is behind the rubber stoper. Why not make something that allows you to remove your O2 sensor from the exhaust, unplug the O2 sensor from the cars wiring, and plug this sim in? Then use an oil drain plug, something, to put in place of the O2 sensor that used to be in your exhaust pipe. Just a thought. I'd buy it. Maybe there's already something like this., don't know.

This is very hard to do. All the current O2 sims that we use still require you to keep it inside the exhaust stream. Without the sensor heated up it will throw different codes then PO420 it will throw some like O2 sensor slow to respond and such. The perrin is the only one that we have used without any problems. It can be installed inside the car no jack required and is simple to install. A plug and play would be nice but with modern ECUs I don't think that it will happen.

I used to be on the hunt for the elusive O2 sim. Then I discovered, from another evom member, the great use of spark plug anti-foulers.
They are on the HELP isle at Pep Boys.
Get the two pack, deep, 18mm version.
Drill out one of them with a 1/2" drill (easy).
Screw the drilled one into the un-drilled one.
Remove your rear O2 sensor, screw in the anti-foulers, screw the O2 sensor into the anti foulers. Done.
There is a small hole in the anti-fouler that lets in a little exhaust, but not enough to let the sensor know the cat is gone.
I've had this in for over 9k miles with no SES (CEL).
Total cost $4.95

The '05s definatly have a different plug. I believe the '04s have the newer plug too. If thats the case, unfortunatly the unit we have only works for '03s.

Guess you'll have to spend less money and get the lower technology solution that works; anti-foulers!
