quest for 350whp?

Hey everyone...
I just wanted to have everyone's input on the best//safest way to attain 350whp on PUMP gas with a stock turbo... i know topics similar to this have been discussed in the past... but never straight forward...

with so many variations and different paths for tuning and modding... what is it that everyone thinks is necessary to attain such a high horse power?

is it even possible? can california's **** gas even handle it? should this even be attempted?

thanks everyone

It's really not that much HP. All you need are all the bolt ons and a good tune like TurboTrix or even Vishnu. Those are the only two that I would let touch your ECU. You can get 350 AWHP for 2K in mods no problem.

350whp on california 91 octane is HARD! I have way over 2K in mods and barely made 309WHP on california 91 ****. Best 91 octane numbers I have seen were on smogrunners car, when he made 347whp on 91 octane. I have not seen a single dynochart break 350whp on any dyno in california on stock turbo.

quest for 350 whp

The list of mods I think would be as follows (and not in any particular order):

Boost controller (manual or electronic)
Boost gauge
3inch Turboback Exhaust
Intake (make sure you are getting a tune, otherwise they are questionable)
255 Fuel Pump (Security Measure)
ARP Headstuds (Another Security Measure, but smart to go with)
Cams (264 / 272)
A good TUNE, a custom one if possible (Most important)

There are tons of vendors for some of the items I listed, and there are other routes you could go. Staying with the stock turbo, 350 is rough on 91, but not impossible to say the least. You can get ported and polished on some of your things to create better airflow. (Like your manifold). Also the Intake is decent, but only if you get a good tune, otherwise the stock airbox is your best bet.

of all the mods listed which one would be the main deciding factor in attaining 350whp on 91 **** gas?

What kind of dyno you use. Dynojet will kick out 350 easily.

I was mainly stating the "basic" bolt ons for him.

Adding a 10.5 hotside, Lower IC pipe, Porting, and other things might be able to eek out an extra 10-20 hp.

Check out some of Davids posts about his RS on some of the other threads, I believe he is around 380ish right now on the stock turbo. (although it is 94 pump, and you're on 91)

to get 350whp on 91octane, you are gonna need alcohol injection. simple as that.

here are my suggestions:

Xede
3" turboback
Cams(either 264,272 or 272,272...you dont want a 264 exhaust cam)
Cam gears
Alcohol Injection

That shuold put you darn close. Maybe some intercooler piping. Also, a 255lph fuel pump for safety.

IMHO, without a tune (mainly a custom tune) most of the mods listed won't be nearly as good.

I would say a TUNE is the most important thing, Xede's are good, I ended up with a Utec.

Most people that dyno on 93 or 94 are under the impression that 91 is almost the same and that you can get slightly lower reading with not too much trouble. It is not SO! 91 is especially ****ty! Dynojet will not easily spit out 350whp in california. Check this graph out, he made 342whp but only 311tq, that is with a TME turbo, HKS cams, and Xede tuning. With 1.04STD correction factor on a Dynojet.
