Would a setup like this throw your ecu off, switching back and forth, when its trying to learn its setup and driving habits?

From the info I have gathered on these, anywhere but right under the engine,or therefore under engine compartment, but as close to turbo as possible, perhaps where the stock cat would be,about 2 feet past the 2nd tie bar?I am by no means an expert on these or their location, but from the info I have read on these it seems that the noise generated by the open exhaust and having it reverberate off the ground plays havoc on the knock sensor, thus pulling lots of timing, for no reason other than the sound reasonating off the ground=less hp and more noise.Just do a search on the subject and you will find dyno reports and lots of info on them.Hope this helps

Mine is installed 4" before the cat (cat is still installed in the stock exhaust) with no timing being pulled. Just install a pipe after the e-cutout that diverts the exhaust (and the sound) to the side of the car. By the way Al from dynoflash was a non-believer before he had a chance to log a few of my runs

did you guys notice any boost spikes from this??? I'm going to do the same thing, actually, i was waiting for quicktime to release their downpipe/cutout/high-flow cat set up, but i don't get any response from them about availability...

I was going to buy a Helix DP and have it cut up to accomidate it... so you think the sealant is a good idea to do right off the bat??? i never heard of them having a sealing issue before, it's new to me... but i know they're built solid... friends still works through the 2nd winter now... oh yeah, i have an S-AFC to help tune it out a lil' too, but gonna get flashed...

so it's a good route hacking up the Helix DP??? and picking up a b/c for spikes???

With my experience with this system.. the boost goes up around 3-4psi and stays that way.... example.. with cutout closed it stayed at 19psi and with it open boost stayed at 22psi and holds... i just used my open cutout as a high boost setting

In addition, do not open it partially and do alot of WOT runs. Had a friend partially open his (~50% open) during a few fun runs on the freeway and after about 20 minutes of WOT runs, bent the flap/broke one of the bolts that hold the flap in place. It was easy to repair/replace the screw though.

I actually used the stock DP but the Helix may be better (due to flow charateristics) depending on your mods ofcourse. I boost 15psi daily and 22psi on high boost tapering down to 19psi.
I have had this e-cutout on the car for 2 years now and prior to that it was on my turbo civic (482 whp) for over 3 years. Only problem is a minor exhaust leak.

this is one of the most effective mods ive ever seen. before ct9agsr had the cutout i would beat him by a car length, now that he has it he beats me by a carlegnth....thats 2 cars from one mod

Thanx guys... this is the def route i'll be taking... I know it made a big difference in turbo cars before, as i've seen what it does on a Grand National...

...plus i'd love to see ppls faces when they creep up on you and think you're running stock, just to open up the butterfly and rev a few times... hehe... plus, could save a lot of trouble with the Fuzz...

and so you shouldn't really open it up while you're moving up in the rev's??? i guess you could just kick it into neutral then flip it open...

thanx again guys!!!

Get ready to buy more motors in the near future. They don't last long. I had this setup a year ago. Loved it , but the motor lasted maybe a month.

I would also get rid of those wing nuts and get some regular hex nuts with lock washers, just to be safe.

I'm assuming the motor for the butterfly??? I've known ppl that use these things on a daily basis for over a year, maybe two... they never had their motors sieze up on them...... maybe you had a bum motor??? or used it while under load like the others said not to???

Let me know...

and can you other guys take a lil' further back shot of the unit so i can get some placement ideas??? Thanx in advance!!!

and also, hehe, any Dyno's yet???

Chris...

What happened to the dyno results you said you would have for us?
