It's a good "idea", but the leaking will get on your nerves and you will eventually change back. Tuning around a setup like this is also weaker unless you can change maps or lower boost on the fly. I had this setup with a flash and had to change between different boost levels for open and closed.

motor is the weak part of this setup.

they tend to get stuck often and motor fries out.

good idea, poor execution.

Cool mod. The noise reminds me of my buddies big turbo WRX we drove out in Nevada. When we got to the track (Spring Mountain) we pulled his exhaust system off and put on an L shaped side exit exhaust pipe which removed the cat and everything. It was soooo loud, and could be easily heard a mile away on the far side of the track.

CT9A gsr, what do you use for boost control when opening and closing? I plan on just tuning boost for open, such as 22psi, and then close it and leave it at a lower boost level. I really don't pound on my car when daily driving. Let me know what route you took. Thanks

Curious, but has the motor failed on you at any time? Any exhaust leaks?

Good idea but old idea. I have known that modification for over 3 years, there is a company called QTP racing, first WRX on the 12's with stock turbo) that makes them for the WRX. Another company that works on Volswagen and Audi cars have the same mod, I think the company is called AGP or ATP.

I have seen a video of a Volkswagen accelerating from a roll then opening the valve and it was very impressive, the wheels started to spining.

My summary is that you are not showing anything new but you are very ingenious making your own.

I have the same exact one in my test pipe. Does your cause the car to pull timing or anything? Also which way do you have it facing? Driver or passenger?

It comes out on the driver side. Out on the road it is fine. But I am going to route it towards the rear about a foot or so with a 45 turn out. I think it will sound better. Now on the dyno I think the knock sensor picks it up.

Are you trying to put me down for introducting something in the Evo community that hasn't really been done before (at least not on EvoM)? Keep in mind this thread was made 'bout a year ago... just to give other ppl an idea to an alternative to their exhaust decisions. Never did I say I invented this idea or created it myself. Never thought it'd be a bad thing to post this, but you make it seem like it was.

To answer the previous question, yes, I've gone through 2 motors so far... this is my 3rd one and still works great.

I had mine comming out the driver side but I turned it over to the passenger to reduce some vibrations. I think it's also been causing me to pull some timing since the knock sensor, but Jestr said when they tune they'll just go around it. So we'll see how it works out

Turned either to the driver' side or passanger's side, I've never had any trouble with the knock sensor thinking the sound is knock... not sure why any of you are having this problem unless you all really are knocking.
