overboost cel

Does anyone know, if you hit this cel, does the computer pull timing? I just had my car tuned and it triggered this code. I was tuned for 25psi. I know people have posted that it's from hitting fuel cut, but I wasn't hitting fuel cut at all. Any help would be appreciated.

your computer will pull timing (aka limp mode) once a certain level of detonation is detected.

Does the car come out of limp mode automatically?? Or do you need to have a dealer reflash?

Are you using Utec to control boost? I had the same problem with the overboost code. I am running utec + Buschur alcohol injection kit, boost set at 25 psi. In my case, the turbo was spooling up too fast and the ecu didn't like it. You can try slowing down the ramping rate. I ended up with an electronic boost controller ( Blitz sbc). No more problems.

The overboost CEL code should not affect performance, its the airflow rate ramping faster than the ECU expects, but it complains because it tries to control the solenoid which has little or no affect on the rate, so you get the error.

Detonation from the tune would be one of the things that would cause timing to be pulled, high engine temp, and other "limp home" conditions would also apply.. But in this case, the overboost code won't affect performance if your not experiencing fuel cut or boost cut.

I'm not experiencing fuel cut. The car was tuned for 25 psi and pulls hard, but everytime the boost would hit 25, the code would be triggered. Also, my trap speed was only 108 mph in the 1/4 which was way too low for my power level. I'm not using the utec to control boost, I'm using the blitz ebc. I dynoed at 353 to the wheels on an awd dyno. When I went to the track yesterday, my 60 foot was 1.734, 1/8 mile mph only 81 mph, and only went 12.7 @ 108. I was hitting 107 mph in the 1/4 last year w/o alcohol, no tune, with just a tbe, basic downloaded map for utec, and 21 psi of boost. I couldn't understand why the car was so slow..... I thought it was from the overboost code.

gain is set at 25% I believe and "set" is 80% if I remember right which puts it at 25psi.

Wow! I have set=75 and gain=13. I tried gain of 15 and I over-boosted on a cool evening. Well....now we know why you get that code.

I'll try turning down the gain on the boost controller lower and see if that helps. It was always at 25% and I never had any problems until I got tuned....... I'll see if that helps.

yeah no one was saying it was pulling timing... possible detonation FROM overboasting would...
