To much oil

I did my first oil change at 1,000 miles and I put in 4 quarts then lowered the car off the ramps. Checked it and it was low. Put in another .75 quarts because I have read several places that everybody seems to think 4.75 is the right amount. I checked it and it seemed ok but a day later I checked it again and it was alittle bit over the second notch on the dipstick. What effect does to much oil have on the car?

You'll be fine. I put 5 qts in on my first change (before reading the manual) and the same thing happened; read fine then, but was high later. At my next 3,000 mi change I used 4.75 and have since. No probs.

Good luck!
