lol... No, you're right. It was my mistake. Just labelled it wrong. SMART boost was active on both runs. We didn't conduct any such lean-run dyno pulls with it off for obvious reasons

will we be able to datalog the SMART realtime changes to help in tuning the base map?

also, i havent seen much info as to the datalogging and tuning (by the user) features of the XEDE. is this info available somewhere?

In one of the previous threads, shiv had mentioned he would like to start offering tuning 'clinics' to help users tune their own cars.. After the release of the SMART XEDE i would definately be interested in something like this. Free for XEDE users of course

For current XEDE users, the upgrade will be approx $400. This will include a wideband controller with Bosch 02 sensor, knock signal buffer, OBD2 diagnostic tool and necessary wiring. If starting from scatch the whole kit (including plug n play XEDE will cost right around $1395).

You wont have to sell too many organs

That's not a problem. The software has been designed so that you can turn off one or all of the SMART maps at any time. If you dont want to use the wideband o2 sensor all the time, just turn the SMART fuel map off.

All the useful data will be high-speed loggable at 100 samples/sec. Among the more useful loggable variables are:

Engine Speed

Wideband AFR- logged in 0-100%, 0-5v or Lambda

Knock- logged in 0-100% (0-5v)

Base Fuel- logged in 0-100%

SMART Fuel offset- logged in 0-100%

Base Timing- logged in degrees

SMART Timing offset- Also logged in degrees

Boost Duty- logged in 0-100%

Injector Duty- logged in 0-100%

Methanol/Water Controller- logged in 0-100%

Overboost Protection (0 for off, 1 for on)

Leanrun Protection (0 for off, 1 for on)

The first tuning clinic/seminar will be held in a couple of weeks at the socal dyno day. Everything with regards to what I've learned (or think I've learned) about tuning will be disclosed. The flexibility of the SMART features (and how to best take advantage of them will also be revealed. There will be an on-car demonstration as well. Not to mention hand-outs/documentation to make all that info go down easier

Cheers,
shiv

The only wiring you will need to do is to tap into power and ground for the wideband controller and knock buffer. You can do this on the XEDE harness so the factory wiring can goes untouched for the most part with the exception of the injector duty cycle wire that will need to be tapped onto one of the injector output wires on our stock ECU wiring harness. It's not a critical feature so you dont have to do this unless, of course, you want to monitor injector duty cycle.

As for taping seminars, no need for that. I'll be traveling across the country just like i do when I tune cars. Custom tuning will be phased out in favor of teaching others how to tune their cars better than any profession tuner using conventional, non-adaptive tuning means. With the SMART Xede, this can be accomplished in a timely and safe manner

Shiv
