Shiv
the preheat time before startup was just a sensor lifespan issue.
you probably know this info but this is a pretty good read about calibration,
sensor technology, and the differences between innovative and the other widebands
out there...

This is pretty interesting stuff...

Shiv, do you have a solution for those who are running speed density using a power fc or do we need to reinstall the factory ECU?

100 samples/sec?! Wow!! that's amazing!!!
Shiv, by any chance you have a sample of the log with SMART on? Preferably those logs where SMART takes more action to offset the fuel, timing, and boost?

Question: I have a XFlash Stage1++ custom tune. Does this mean I can keep my flash, get a XEDE, and be set? Or do I have to reflash my ECU back to a stock basemap and work off the XEDE's basemap?

Shiv, how does it avoid over-advancing at low/moderate loads-- do you simply set a lower (smaller) authority range in those regions? Or is it disabled entirely below a certain load threshold?

Is this a special OBDII reader or will the normal $150 orange one from Autozone that everyone seems to have work? I obviously already have that one, thus the question.

The OBDII reader that is included in the package is the simple little module kind that you can plug in and leave plugged in all the time without a wire hanging down from the diagnostic port. IIRC this is to fix the P0300 problem. I'm sure Shiv will chime in on this.

Hi Shiv,

This sounds pretty good.... Do you think this might be a good addition to my '05 MR? If this is the case, I'd like to get a kit and have Andrew install it for me. I guess since the DP will change (I just happen to have a 3" dp with the O2 bung already welded in ), the car should be tuned again, right? Oh yeah, if you are reading this Andrew, please contact me so we can discuss this upgrade....

Thanks,

Manuel

But what if you don't have a P0300 code problem?

I think the OBDII reader is more for monitoring then for fixing the P0300 code. I believe they have fixed the P0300 code with v3.

The SMART XEDE will work just fine on top of a Reflash. In other words, the ECU does not have to be stock. The Adaptive and Protective maps still apply. The only changes you would do is to zero out the base timing and fuel XEDE maps since all the global/static fuel and spark revisions are done in the reflash.

Cheers,
shiv

The SMART ignition mapping is always active. But we do limit it's authority range when it comes to adding in timing (especially at low engine speeds when over-advance is always possible).

We are making this paricular OBD-II tool a necesssary component to the system simply because:

1) it has be shown to eliminate the factory PO300 code
2) it will help immeasurably in case there is any troubleshooting that needs to be done.
3) we are buying them in bulk so the added cost is small

Cheers,
shiv

No samples of your logs available yet?
