The SMC kit is excellent....i would reccommend it to anyone. Very easy to install and people have been running them for a couple years on evos now.

So, when people blow their motor due to these faulty kits, are you going to just fix the alky kit or are you going to replace their entire motor, including labor? I'm just curious as I know this has happened with your kit to at least one person. Are you going to recall the kits with the faulty boards?

Smoogy,
That is my biggest fear, failure when under full load and high boost. All the sudden that extra timing blows your engine.

The car I pilot has the SMC kit on it. From the day I bought her, the amber spraying light has remained on. The activate button will bog the engine down at idle, and the wideband would go rich, almost of the chart. I assumed that the pump was working correctly, from way it pulls like a freight train at 30psi and virtually no knock what so ever.

I also assumed that I was burning through the meth due to my heavy foot. I topped off the meth, and went for a 30 mile drive. It was the longest 30 miles of my life. I got on boost once, or twice tops.

I stopped and the resevor was halfway empty... Man to think all this time Ive been filling the meth_tank everyother day... Glad there is a cure aside from lightening my right foot.

I'll be contacting Steve, glad to hear the issues are resolved.

For those of you guys READING this thread this is a very old thread. As you will notice "spyonyou2007" re-opened this post after the last entry being in July of 2005. The SMC kits have been working flawlessly. The kits had a few defective controllers, they were replaced and there have been no more problems.

Keep the Snow kits, the SMC works better and actually fits in the car.

Thanks,

David Buschur

I wanted to add that I have been working closely with david and SMC on these kits since we first released them and SMC has been super cooperative in making changes and improvements

Out of the last 20 kits I have sold NOT ONE has been defective

The lastest revised boards seem to work 100% perfect

It is important to remember that with alcohol injection it is very imporatnt to always test the unit to make sure it working properly when you get in the car - takes 3 seconds to do this

This is why the smc kit has a built in pressure testing light - the only guy I know of who blew an engine with this kit knew he had a problem with his unit having a short and still went out to run a drag track event - he held it down in 3rd gear even though he knew the kit had stopped working

My point - if you are careful you wont have any problems

Also - smc is now working on a saftey system which can cut boost if the kit fails - this is in the works - I will be testing it very soon

Would it be something we can add on our current units or perhaps trade up.

it will be something you can add to the existing syetem and it will be inexpensive

basically it will put you at 14 psi of boost of the kit fails
