Do I really need a flash??
True - in many cases customers have mechanical issues which make their cars run like crap and they may think that a tune will fix the problem - which obviously it cant. A tune is no solution to basic mechanical issues such as boost leak or poor spark.
safc with datalogger, more money more work, but in a long run, you could do a lot more with it with additional add ons.
flash - less work, less money, but once you start adding more, it becomes sorta rich (custom flash gets mail in flash for life of the vehicle, right Al?)
They both suck compare to standalone ems. That's why Al's running AEM EMS. Once you get to that power level, so much a flash and safc could do.
but really, the cons of safc is that it's got to deal with stock fuel cut, boost cut.
flash takes those out.
should just get basic flash, then tune it with safc.
But really considering if you need both the flash and safc, it'll be a lot cheaper to get a piggy back ems.

tuning on top of safc... Some dsm friends of mine did that on dynoflash, works, and visnu, and although it did create some #, it causes some problems. I aint going to say which one particular flash, but it never changed timing, the timing would not advance, and it would run way rich up top. No matter how much fuel u add or lean out the timing stays the same. If the dsm guy want to post the chart on the logs on which flash that'll be up to him.
I don't know about losing TQ... but I gain more TQ than hp on my tune. All it needed to tune was a pocketlogger and EGT, and my tune was safe 91 octane tune. How can u go wrong with 284hp/286 tq with only 2 mods; a Gut Cat and a 3 in catback, mind u everything else is stock! Actually 1, the other one I just gut the cat.

Long story short if your done w/everything than yah go with the flash and be happy you save money. But if u have just exhaust and plan on upgrading go w/safc. Original thread guy... I doubt it could be the safc tune. Go to RRE and get it checked out.

Jeff, yes, if I run more than 21psi on pump, then the ECU pulls timing automatically if I'm too lean. I add fuel and adjust the boost down if I have to in that case, but I try to tune it to 20-21psi on 93oct so that my timing curve is just about linearly-increasing through the power band up to a max of 19-20 above 7k rpm. With a mix of 104/93oct, I turn the boost to 22-23 and lean out the S-AFC en route to an even nicer timing curve that maxes at 21 at 7500 in 4th. I did 5-6 straight runs in the 12.22-12.34 range at this setting in 80 degree weather with all the logs being almost 100% identical. No knock and nothing too lean, but definitely aggressive.
