Hallman Boost Setting

Before I begin, I would like to say I have done a search and did not find any answers to my specific questions. So my questions are, to achieve 19.5-20 PSI of boost, how many turns on this boost controller will I need to make. And from which direction, all the way closed or open. Also is it possible to unthread the control knob? I have adjusted it counter clockwise so much I feel like the control knob is going to fall off. Any help would really be appreciated.

if you look at the boost controller the knob says which way for more and which way for less. keep it to the side where it says less, then turn up until your desired boost is hit. If you don't have a boost guage, get that first.

Why can't you go out and set it to something almost all the way out like you have it and then just go make runs in third gear like everyone else who has a MBC does to set the boost. You will have to tighten (clockwise) the knob to increase your boost.

never ever ever adjust your mbc w/o boost guage. once you've got one, tuning your mbc is easier than changing gears.

Turn the knob all the way to the left (counter clockwise), you should be boosting ~12psi. Begin increasing the boost in two turn increments till you reach your desired setting. If you dont have a boost gauge buy one.

Thanks for the quick reply, I have a boost gauge, it would crazy to install a boost controller w/o one, and I will try a third gear run to adjust the boost. Also I have the adjustment turned almost all the way out and it still hits up past 20psi. So it looks like I will need to adjust it more CC. But is it possible to unthread the knob, I just don't want the adjustment knob falling off.

If you have it almost all the way out and are boosting past 20 psi then you do not have it correctly installed. Take it to a friend who has experiance with turbo cars and manual boost controlers or take it to a profesional tuner.

Alright, I finally have it figured out. At first I was alittle hesitant to continue turning away in the CC position thinking the controller knob was going to fall off, but a few more rotations and the boost fell to about 15psi. So now its all about dialing it up to 19.5-20psi. Thanks.
