fine I give up...this aside has run its course and I don't want to mess up this thread...I guess the general consensus is without a BOV the air just slips around the compressor wheel without slowing it down or stopping it, and the bucking...well since it couldn't possibly be because the turbine wheel has stalled from the backpressure on the compressor, if and when it ever happens to me again I guess I'll really check for a banana in my tailpipe.

Hey David how does this turbo compare to the 05 EVO turbo>? What are the gain on this turbo over the 05evo turbo. Can't wait to see some results soon.
Thanks Or if anyone else can answer this that would be good also.

Chris

Creamo3, we shipped some turbos, not sure if yours was one of them. If you ordered the turbo with a turbine housing it should be adjusted. Very simple to check before you install it though and I would suggest doing that.

machron1, what you are saying is partially correct. Compressor surge doesn't only happen with the throttle plate is closed or only partially open. Many turbo will surge even under WOT conditions.

There are units out there, guys just have to get them on the cars now. My car put down results, I am assuming you need more.

This would be little late to the topic but I was actually in Dave's car before the shootout. The white one of course with 20G and there was 3 people in the car including me (I weigh about 250lbs) so do the math. I have a Stage4 car that I drive daily. All I can say is, this 20g is a very big difference when you compare it to stock turbo/stage4. It has a lot more top end and kicks in just like stock.
That day, the boost around 25psi was holding very steady and it spooled very identical to stock, you can't tell if it is stock or not until the boost hits and pulls like a plane, that's where you say woow..

Sounds promising, I have always run Buschur Parts on my DSM and now my Evo. His Customer service alone is worth it

Here's a quick update and preview, my car just came back from the bodyshop, they damaged the electronic box for my blowthrough MAF, so I am waiting to replace some electronics, but I picked up the thermal coated header and O2 housing yesterday and assembled everything with brand new hardware.

What you see in this picture..

JIC Header
TME Based 20G turbo with 10.5 housing
DNP O2 housing
EGT Sensor
Forge adjustable wastegate actuator

The header and O2 housing is Thermal Coated by Rainbow Powder Coat here on Long Island, NY.. Their pricing blew away the competition and of course it didn't cost anything for shipping.

I also used all brand new OEM hardware to put everything together, I didn't want to be caught salvaging or swapping rusty parts. When I do finally install everything the hardware will get professional copper anti-seize on it so I can get this stuff apart in the future for the turbo comparo I'm planning after I move into my new house and shop.

Wow, that looks great! Where can I purchase that copper anti-seize that you will be using?
