stock cams with custom grind

I was thinking about taking a set of stock cams out and taking them to a shop to have them custom grinded. Has anyone done this? the reason I am considering this is because the stock cams are great pieces. They are forged and also have hollow shafts. From what I have read, all aftermarket cams are forged so they are not as high a quality as the stock units. Just throwing it out there to see what you all think. It is also cheaper to have my cams custom grinded. IT is only going to cost $300.

humm.. what do the stock cams need to get done grinded like cut **** off i thought you want the lift to be bigger then the stock ones. or is that the other way the better cams have less of a lift. which is it. and ya if they work well and can handle the power as the others then i dont see why not.

I'd just get HKS, For another 250$ its worth it. Stock regrinds just dont sound like a good idea to me. So many people are having good results with HKS, why not just do that?

forging is better than welding extra slag onto your stockers, then regrinding them. belive it or not, there is a lot more to cams than just having the same duration and lift! 2 companies can make cams with identical lift and duration, but one can make 10-20hp more! it all has to do with ramp rates, overall lift, total duration, etc. go with a proven setup! unless you have lots of time/money to spend
