My ACT story (not good) - please read

If anyone in So Cal has an ACT that is seeing this problem, please contact me and I'll take a look at the adjustment and try to deal with ACT on this for you. If you bought it from me or had it installed here or not. E-mail me at mike@roadraceengineering.com and we'll make an appointment to check it out. I have not got to where I am now by selling crap or parts I dont believe in personally. Our parts selection is very narrow for this reason.
Twin discs have their issues too (release noise,, coast down noise, CELs for random missfire) and the RPS million dollar clutch is not with out issues either. I've see all of the Gucci and Tommy Hillfigger clutches suffer premature deaths for many reasons.
ACT Man is probably keeping his head down on this thread because he, like so many other vendors and manufacturers, hates the lynch mob mentality and mental masturbation that are message boards.

Look how many cars have this problem on stock clutches. Dirk is not conspiring to make your life miserable. He really does want to help you have a fast enjoyable EVO and given the chance will do so.

This is the reason I brought my clutch (ACT) to you
I have the lock out problem too . just doesn't bother me because I don't drag race at all. Is there any thought by you that this may cause premature wear on the synchros or other transmission parts?
Bottom line: Is this something I NEED to have checked out even tho I rarely shift at 7k?
Mike,
I have not had any problems with my ACT. However, if I have any problems you will be the first person I contact (I also had my clutch installed at RRE. Apparently, I was the first MR you guys worked on regarding the clutch).

Those are my main concerns. Maybe Mike wants to "Inspect" it for the sake of science regarding wear and tear.
I wonder what this inspection would include. I mean How would we know what if any damage is being done to the synchros.
I would be more than happy to donate my car to science
It takes all of 5 minutes to check the adjustment on an EVO clutch. Send me an e-mail before stopping by to be sure I'm here and I'll be happy to check it out. Generally in the late afternoon/early evening M-F is best.

Hey Mike Please don't take any disrespect out of this next statement but how will you be able to assess what is exactly going on inside of the tranny (synchros, etc.) without actually pulling it? Or is this a check the clutch rod adjustment and call it a day, not that I care just wondering .
I really do appreciate you willing to look at it but I don't understand what "checking" it out means, I think most people's worries are about internal damage or excessive wear and tear due to the ACT unit.
In your experience with EVO's and ACT products used in EVO's have you ever had a blown out ACT and inspected it for excessive wear and tear? Or have you ever just ripped one open to see wear patterns between the ACT vs. OEM?
I will email you tho as I understand you are busy.

It will be a lot easier to start with the basics in person vs trying to diagnose anything over the internet.
Usually people dont want to pay to take out a good clutch just to look at it. Sometime we see a clutch that is working fine when replacing a motor. But they tend to look.. well... fine. When we do see a dead clutch, they look dead yes. But by the time it is slipping they look pretty much all the same and there is no way to tell weather it was caused by slipping it - so that it caused so much heat that it wouldnt hold together anymore or if it just was not adjusted correctly and that was causing it to slip.
A ham footed gorilla can kill any organic clutch in a matter of minutes by getting it beyond it's heat handling range. Just like brakes fade if you do 100 mph stops over and over again, the clutch disc wont hold up doing launch after launch with out allowing things to cool off. But slipping and blowed up clutches are not the concern on this thread as much as release problems are.
