Dang that's not bad at all. I need to find some place near Palatine\Schamburg IL area that sells methanol. I believe AMS sells it for $6/gallon $30 for 5 gallon drum. Dang 100% methanol or denature alky????? shoot!!!!

Do you guys search for places that sell 100% methanol in that area before going out of town???

 

The price was for 100% meth. If you ever head up to the SE WI part of town look up a place called EH Wolf in Slinger.

 

$1.87 sounds about right for VP Racing M1 Methanol.

Just be aware that denatured alcohol is ethyl alcohol, not methyl. Also "denatured" is a legal term, not a chemical term. There are around 20 or more legal formulations of denatured alcohol so you have no idea of what else is in there -- some have dissolved solids. But most of them are probably OK unless you're running so much alcohol that you're using it as a substitute fuel rather than just a boost fluid.

99+% Methanol can be had by the 55-gallon drum from any local industrial chemical supplier. I just purchased a drum at $2.47/gallon, which is cheaper than pump gasoline at this point in time. They'll usually even deliver it.

You will need to go to Grainger supply or equiv. and get a bung tool and a cheapie ($10) poly drum pump. Dispense 5 gallons at a time into a suitable container and keep in your trunk.

 

I thought 100% ethanol was flammable so keep it in the trunk is a no no correct? Also what's the storage temp? Damn I need to do more research on methanol before buying

 

Methanol is flammable, but so is gasoline. If there is some federal reg that prohibits carrying fuel in an approved container in the trunk, that's news to me.

methanol is highly flammable...you should make sure your kit has no leaks...teflon tape threads...if it catches fire...by the time you notice...it will be too late.

No. For your safety you can use 50/50 water/meth
but less power. And it feels so strong

ps. 100% Methanol is completely safe and will produce the most hp. If you're worried about flamability, methanol is less combustive than gasoline.
