How bad is for the motor to hit the rev limiter? My friend keeps doing that **** all the time just for the hell of it at the lights or while just driving, he puts it in neutral and revs to hit the rev limiter!! I told him to stop bc i know you can cause damage. If im correct i think you can bend a valve or something but not 100% sure. Need some so i can show my friend before he blows the motor!!

 

he seems persistant on being an ***... i would let him do it if he didnt heed my first warnings... but the rev limiter is there to stop damage, but he could float a lifter by doin it... car motors are not designed to rev freely like that of a bike or indy car.. damage will insue... he will learn, like so many asses that i know, that still dont have a car..

I do it accidentally when I autocross on occasion. I don't think it hurts it to much just don't do it all the time.
