Streetable Cams?

If i decide to do cams in my evo first off its my daily driver. ive heard that most people do 272's but should i do 264's? also whats the reasoning for having a different intake and exhaust cam? which brand should i go with hks? and if i get cams do i have to change the cam gears as well, and fuel pump or anything else ? thanks.

run any combo you want except 280's are a ***** sometimes. Really depends on the tuner, however we have street cars here running straight 272's, straight 280's, and 264/272 combo's. They all do very well.

I run HKS 264/272, and the idle gets a little lumpy sometimes, but nothing too serious.

I did get a fuel pump with the cams, and most people would recommend you do the same.

As for the brand of the cams, HKS has been around for a long time and you would find plenty of feedback about them. The Buddy Clubs are very cheap, and from what I read on the forums, a good alternative to the HKS.

Search the posts and you'll find quite a bit of information.

I have the WORKS 269 cams and I love them, lol definitely sounds like a V8 with a cam They are lopey, but not too bad and the Evo is my daily driver, also no cam gears are needed with the WORKS cams.

272/272 is fine, if you're car is picky you can turn up the idle screw a tad, just a tad. otherwise... i don't think i've actually heard ANYONE say... OMG MY CAMS SUCK, THEY STALL ALL THE TIME AND THE LUMP MAKES MY BUTT CRY, WAH WAH WAH.

That is the age old question....

what cams and what brand
I just bought the tried and true HKS! 272's. $550 not the most exspensive and not the cheapest, and works with the stock valvetrain.

I heard 280 are streetable but you need the cam gears to mess with the timing. With the stock turbo I herd 264's or combo, with the 272's you have room to go with the bigger turbo in the future. Do a search and start reading, and reading, and reading.

One last thing if you plan on installing your self you better order the special tool now. From Mac Tools MSMD998738.
