Turbo timers, while fun toys to have, aren't really needed with today's turbos. The turbo in the Evo is water cooled. So long as you ensure that the last few minutes of your drive aren't at full boost, you won't have an issue with the turbo if you just shut the car off.

The only time that I do let the car idle after stopping is when I have just gotten off the highway (like a rest stop). At highway speeds, the ECU has been running the engine pretty lean for a while. The manifold and exhaust housing can glow red in this circumstance. So I sit in my car for a minute or two to let it cool down.

Other than that, for daily driving, I just let the car run while I shut windows and my sunroof, then I shut it down.

Personally, I'd save my money for something that will actually make the car go faster.

Incidentally, I have over 60,000mi on my TD05H-16G. And it sees a lot of abuse when I'm autocrossing or drag racing (24psi).

Essentially, it is water and oil cooled. You can run Mitsubishi turbos without water, but you have to worry about shutting them down hot. So why do it?

From the Evo VIII PDF:
"To cope with the higher torque, cooling performance has been improved by uprating the water pump capacity and by enlarging the water passages in the turbocharger."

My alarm is compustar. it is being installed as i write this. the alarm is a bit more expensive than most, but it also comes with a paging function and small monitor to let you know if and what part of the car has been triggered. for more info please check out: www.compustar.org

What are the price ranges on the CompuStar alarms? I want to get one that has the remote start and trubo timer capabilities. Either that or I was looking at a Clifford that has remote start and getting a turbo timer separate.

I don't think the remote start will work on our cars due to the engine immobilizer. I think that is what our manual says.

i don't know the price, i am getting mine installed by a friend, so i am getting a good deal. i found out about compustar in import tuner, and they said that one of the best packages from compustar can be bought and installed for around 700. you will have to check yourself for the exact pricing.
