??? does windshield wiper washer contains alcohol??? or straight water???

 

I also have been reading that about using washer fluid on the alky!

Is that a joke? Is that true? why?

I suppose it depends on where you live if washer fluid contains alcohol. In northern climates it's needed to prevent the water from freezing. It might also be found in warmer climates as part of the cleaning process of the glass, I don't know.

The percentage of alcohol depends on what kind of alcohol is used and for what temperature. Washer fluid good for -40F would have more alcohol in it than one good to only -25F. And like I said, it depends on what kind of alcohol they're using too.

 

Usually 8% methanol to lower the freezing point of the fluid..............use a 50/50 methanol mix for alky............

So we're all trying to figure out, for anyone who knows, is there a common w/s washer fluid that is 50% methanol??

 

OK, you guys are getting way too creative.

 

There is a product at my local BX that contains about 50/50 methyl/H20 it's concentrated window fluid undiluted.

The stuff in the common one gallon jugs is about 5 to 10% methyl alc. - mostly water.

 

mmmmmmmm i recall seeing someone that made a flame thrower out of some washer fluid... it was factory bmw fluid though... not sure of the alcohol content....
