I have no problem with Ferrea, I am running thier valves. At the price of the Revolver springs and retainers though they can not be beat. There is a lot of design consideration that went into the Revolver springs. They are not simply a replacement piece to allow more lift like other springs on the market.
mate,

just wondering, when you install the revolver cams, do you need to tune the ECU? (or AMS or whatever). It's just that the only adjustment required for the Tomei's are ones at the cam pulley. I'm wondering that since the Revolver is a more radical design that more must be done to accomodate it.

I'm using a Ralliart ECU for my MR and it work great. I don't really want to install and thing like a motec or F-con system...

Tuning a longer a duration cam profile is "respectfully" easy. The revolver, piper, tomie cams are a much different animal like you mention. Lift will play a critical role in throttle response and initial lean spool. It requires a great deal of attention to both fuel and timing. These cams separate real tuners from the cartooners.
amen brotha!

[QUOTE=Mike@Forge]The GSC cams are ground from the SAME EXACT blanks as the HKS cams, so there is no merit to any argument that the HKS cams are better by any measure. They are not inferior, but they are not better.

hmmm, last time I looked at an HKS cam, it had 'HKS' cast into the blank.

They are both good products. I went with HKS because I didn't like hearing about the surface area problem. I have never heard about any problems with HKS from any members here. I paid for peace of mind.

Besides, if you buy your cams from a local tuner, don't most of them replace them if there is a problem? I'm pretty sure most do.

Yep, HKS makes a fine product. Unfortunately, their cams for the 4G63 are lazy. We designed our cams to make great power and torque and offer ultimate throttle response for those out there, like us, who are gearheads. For those who understand what an engine is really doing and fully understands EFI tuning, our cams make perfect sense.

We don't follow the leader. We grind and source our blanks our cams in the US. Unlike the majority of the aftermarket, we will not source parts in China. We will not try and pinch a few extra dollars and support some other country, when people in our own country don't have jobs because everything is being outsourced to compete. It's really pretty f*&cked that this is happening....for anyone that mountainbikes, look at the bicycle ind.

Many companies are getting too big for their own good, so many hands in the pot (shareholders) looking only at the bottom line. We take pride in knowing the our comapny, makes it own decisions between three partners. Our company is focused on quality over quantity and will always be. We are not out to make a quick buck by putting out a marginal product. This is not a sales pitch for our company in anyway, just stating some facts about where we are coming from.

I am glad to know that we have the support of many fine folks of the EvoM community. I am looking forward to working with Nick, Tim and the Precision Dyno crew.

Take care.

BTW... I am running HKS 272s right now... but at $300 for the set, I could not turn them down. However, when I get around to finding someone quasi local I trust to tune them, I will go with a higher lift/shorter duration cam set.
